This is a long story, and I wouldn't be surprised if the owner replies to try to undermine what I'm sharing or try to shame me for not buying a diamond, but this may be worth the read. TLDR: If you purchase from this store, make sure you have your stones tested by another jeweler, as Busch may give you CZ and be unable to identify their error or perhaps just refuse to admit that they have given you a CZ instead of the stone you paid for.
I purchased a moissanite-center ring from Busch Jewelers last year and was extremely surprised to find out from a different jeweler that Busch had given me a CZ center stone rather than the moissanite I purchased. We bought a Moissanite because that's the stone we wanted - we did not want a diamond. After discovering that the stone was illegitimate, I immediately drove to Busch Jewelers to correct what I hoped was a simple error.
We were fully expecting for Busch to identify his error and install the stone that I was sold. When we arrived, the store manager began insisting that the stone was moissanite. He then inspected the stone - measuring, identifying "natural inclusions", and putting it in his "$5,000 diamond tester". What he claimed were inclusions, another jeweler easily determined were scratches.
We also find it concerning that he used his diamond tester/laser to "prove" to us that our stone was a true moissanite - Why would a machine designed to identify diamonds indicate "true diamond" on a moissanite? Who else have they tried to mislead with this machine? After assuring us for around 30 minutes, the manager told us that it was time for us to leave because the store was closing.
After leaving the store, we went to 2 other Rockford-area jewelry stores who immediately (and easily) identified our stone as CZ, even after the Busch Jewelers manager assured us that it was moissanite. One of the other jewelers zoomed in on our ring to show us the stamp on the stone that reads "SWARVOSKI ZIRCONIA" (see photo). We now have 3 separate jewelers who confirmed that the stone is fake, but Busch refused to realize or admit their error.
The next day, my fiancee and I decided that we would be returning the ring to Busch for a refund. Best-case scenario, there was a series of significant errors made on Busch Jewelers' part and they lack critical knowledge of their business (they were not able to identify CZ stones and it's amazing that they even allowed me to leave the store with an illegitimate stone in the first place). Worst-case scenario, I was intentionally misled.
This is FRAUD! Before we could arrive at the store, I received a call from the owner, Mitch. He informed me that he had identified their "honest mistake", which was that the store never actually ordered the moissanite that I was sold, and I was just given the CZ display stone. He was incredulous when I informed him that I would be returning the ring.
Upon arrival, he explained to us that it was his part-time employee's fault that I received the wrong stone (even though he never ordered the correct stone to begin with). He also told us that his Manager lacked the knowledge and experience to identify the difference between the stones. Even the teenager at the kiosk in the mall was able to quickly identify that the stone in my ring was a CZ rather than a moissanite. Mitch spent more time blaming others than apologizing for his incompetence.
I am happy that I decided to return this ring because I refuse to do business with a "jeweler" who lacks integrity, and basic knowledge of his trade. This has been our true experience with Busch, and I could not be more disappointed. We will now be ring shopping with a reputable and trustworthy jewelry store that isn't owned by a crook. Mitch, if you want me to "take the word 'fraud' out of my vocabulary", then please take fraud out of your business practice.

After shopping around other local jewelers for an engagement ring, Busch was by far the best option. I had a small idea of what I wanted and Mitch was able to give opinions and form the most perfect ring for less than I was planning to pay. My fiance absolutely loves the ring and the intricate details they were able to do for me. Since then, we have gone back for a wedding ring, and a day of wedding gift bracelet. Both are perfect! They are so helpful and get things done in a very timely manner. Nothing but satisfied with them and they will be the only jeweler I use in the future.

I have been dealing with Mitch for years. Have purchased many pieces of jewelry from him. My wife's jewelry box looks like a miniature Busch Jewelers. Mitch is ALWAYS very accommodating and his staff is also. I have dealt intermittently with others jewelers in town and always go back to Busch. You just can't beat the service and quality of their merchandise.

There aren't enough positive words to describe Busch Jewelers. I am a research-aholic and there was no exception in this particular case as I looked for an engagement ring and wedding band. I found Busch Jewelers to be superior when it came to customer service, product selection, craftsmanship and most importantly cost. It almost felt like I was buying a piece of jewelry from a friend when working with Mitch as he guided me through the process. I travel about 1.5 hours just to go to Busch. Thank you again for the tremendous work and I look forward to all my future purchases from Busch!

Came in only for a repair and cleaning of my engagement ring (which wasn't purchased at Busch). My husband and I were promptly greeted and the staff assured me that they could tighten the setting on my main stone and also clean the ring. I expected to pay more but both services were only about $45, and were finished quicker than promised! I have no complaints about their work.

We have a long history with Mitch and his business. I have bought my wife rings/diamonds/watches etc. Each of my three children as they came of age and engaged, bought their engagement/wedding rings there. Now I'm back to have Mitch craft a 40th anniversary ring for my bride. I have traveled a lot and shopped watches and jewelry both domestically and internationally. Never found a better deal than what I could get in Rockford, Illinois.

I had a ring that my wife bought me years ago and it broke at the bottom of the ring. Took it to another jeweler a couple of years that used to be downtown and is now located at a high priced corner on east side of town. They charged me $200 and fixed it. About a month ago I went back and had them look at it and they told me the person that fixed it before did it wrong, I informed him that they had fixed it and he danced and said that was the correct way to try to fix it but the sides have to be built up to fix it right, cost $650.
I asked about money I had spent and he agreed to credit $200 so for a mere $450 he will fix it. It was Xmas time so time frame was 4-6 weeks. Not liking my answer I went to Busch, that is where wife had bought it anyway, they looked, said $70 and it would be fixed in a week. So, let's review. #1 already charged me $200, didn't work wants another $450 and 6-8 weeks #2 $70 and it will be done in a week.
I had the repair done some time back just to make certain it was correct and it looks great, nothing breaking as #1 said it would and I have $380 more in my pocket. Thanks Busch Jewelers for not trying to rip my head off. Scott H

This store is amazing -- and the staff and owners are so helpful and kind! My family has bought all major jewelry here for years. What sets them apart from other stores, in my opinion, is their attention to the customer. When my brother picked out an engagement ring, they took the time to listen to all his thoughts, look at the rings his girlfriend had saved on Pinterest, and consider her likes and personality. It's amazing to dedicate that kind of time to someone. But it's because they really care!

Their customer service is unparalleled to any other jeweler. From the moment we walked in the door, we were treated with the utmost respect and diligence. Connor was absolutely wonderful and went above and beyond to help us with all of our frequent needs and requests. I highly HIGHLY recommended them for any of your jeweler needs.

Busch jewelers has been our jeweler for 30 years! Cannot believe it's been that long! But it has! He has the most beautiful diamonds of any one and very fair in his pricing! Both our son in laws have bought our daughters wedding rings from Busch as well. My husband has bought me many beautiful diamond rings earrings bracelets and I have loved every one of them!
Customer service has been awesome! I believe his staff is trained well! Busch has and always will be our number one jeweler to go to! We know he hasvthe most beautiful diamonds of all!

I took a ring in for repair because a diamond had fallen out. After the job was done, I got home before I realized that they hadn't charged me for the repair work, just the diamond itself. When I returned to the store to point out the error and to pay them for the labor, they told me to consider it a gift for for being honest. You cannot buy this kind of goodwill or good publicity!

While I was browsing in a jewelry store in St. Charles, they offered to clean my wedding ring, but they said they couldn't do it because the prongs were so worn the diamond would come out of the setting. Thus began the search for a replacement ring; however, I love my original ring because it is so unique and I've worn it every day for 47 years so it has a lot of emotion attached to it.
I took the ring to Busch Jewelers and told Mr. Busch that I loved the ring but wanted the stone reset with a little more bling. He had the stone reset in a mounting with a halo of small diamonds surrounding my original diamond, and it is gorgeous. The quality of the stones and the workmanship is remarkable, and the bling is WOW! I also had a pair of diamond stud earrings that I had made into drop earrings several years ago (at a different jewelers), but was never happy with the results.
The diamonds looked lost in the setting and all you could see was the white gold, so I never wore them. I brought those to Mr. Busch also, and he agreed with me. He reset them using the white gold that was already there, and added more diamonds all along the edges. They are so beautiful now I wear them often. I've gotten so many compliments on both the ring and the earrings. Busch Jewelers is my jewelry store for life, and even if I move out of the area, I will always come back to shop there.

I bought my engagement ring for my fiance here as well. They were able to do a custom design just by showing them details about other rings that she liked. She loves it, her friends love it and just any person that sees it is really impressed. I paid a very reasonable price. They were fast, friendly, and very helpful throughout the process.

I bought my Fiances ring here. I was amazed at the customer service there. I went to a couple of places before and was treated poorly. When I finally found the ring at Busch's, I thought it'd be way too much. From the research I did online, the ring would be out of my budget. I told them that and they got the price within range for me. I was so excited. I couldn't speak more highly of them and the great work they did. They are very nice, and not pushy. The prices are the best in town too.
