Sledge's Estate Jewelers has been a family owned and operated business since 1945. It all began in the hills of Mississippi when Chuck's father Brian purchased the first Sledge family jewelry store. He then moved to New Mexico and opened a store before finally moving to Southern California where the Sledge family has owned three separate stores. In 1975, Brian bought and moved to his last location here in Orange where he passed the legacy onto his son. Now we have grown as a store and come to specialize in antiques and estate engagement rings, diamonds, and jewelry.

I had been a customer for over 10 years and now I see that CHUCK, the owner is a dishonest man who will boldly lie to your face. He does good repair work although now i doubt the work being real gold! Pre-Covid I took some old gold charms and rings to sell for a "heirloom" piece that my children would want and be of value when I'm gone, so I trusted CHUCK when he showed me a beautiful "gold" bangle that he would exchange.
He said at that time is was worth about $500.00. So I agreed. Yesterday 5/18, I went to sell back that $500 bangle that I didn't like anymore. When CHUCK looked at it he said it wasn't gold and had no value! I was shocked and told him the he sold it to me about 3 years ago. He started trembling, and tried to say I lied, as he made excuses, I saw some ok MY jewelry still in his case and pointed them out to him.
He quickly said, OK take them and don't ever come back! He is so disgusting as a business man, CHUCK will answer to God for his dishonesty and lying to good people who trust him. I only put 1 star because it's required to post AVOID THIS PLACE!

Honestly not a better jeweler in town.excellent knowledge of jewelry and jewelry history. A place I can trust to update, repair and create new pieces. "An" is an impeccable jewelry repair person. Chuck has so much knowledge on jewelry and you are able to figure out what to do to preserve and or replace your valuable and treasured pieces. Highly recommended.

I purchased a setting for my emerald from Sledges. He is not the jeweler another man off site is the so called jeweler and you never get to talk to him or see your jewelry to see what he has done. I received my Emerald back crooked in the setting. Two of the sapphires were crooked in the setting and I had to get those repaired. As well as the prongs that broke once my jeweler tried to repair and straighten the sapphires. Run run run from this jeweler do not buy anything from him. He should not represent himself as a jeweler it was his father that was the jeweler not him.

I love going to this place to have my jewelry looked at and sized if needed. 30 years ago a friend of friend raved about "Chuck" and what a great jeweler he was and today I'm here to pass on that fact. He's honest, knowledable and his onsite jeweler is too. I feel very lucky to live just blocks from one of the few but THE BEST brick and mortar jewelry stores in Orange County, probably in California!

This was the second time I came here to get my antique cross fixed. I could not believe how fast it was repaired and at a nominal cost. While I was waiting I ended up buying some lovely earrings and a chain. Chuck is a sweetheart and knows his stuff. I will come back again for sure and will recommend him to all my clients.

Disgusting person who calls himself a Christian and identifies as a "red neck" making racist remarks and knows nothing about other cultures and countries. Do not trust this person and you will have a very unpleasant experience here. He said to me twice "I am a red neck!" Then went on preaching. I told him I respect him and Christians but he wouldn't stop with his racist remarks. I almost called the police.

The best jewelry shop around. The owner has been in the business for a long time, and he fair, honest, and an overall great guy to do business with, he really takes care of the customers after the sale is done. My wife messed up her ring accidentally right after we got it (not used to it being on her finger), he repaired it for free. Awesome guy, awesome service, awesome shop!

This guy is a scam artist! Years ago we bought a ring from this place for our engagement. We ended up changing our mind and going for a different ring that wasn't as expensive. To make a long story short, he refused to refund the difference. I believe it was around $800. He said he could only give store credit. After realizing we had no other choice we took the store credit.
After returning there some time later he refused to honor the store credit and refused to recognize my receipt he had hand written on my original notice. He hides behind his southern charm accent and saying that he's Christian. Its unfair and ridiculous! I would never recommend anyone going to him for anything. Not trustworthy.

This is the 2nd time I have been to Sledge's. The first time I just happened upon it as I had gone to an adjacent shoe repair. This time it was no mistake that I went to Sledge's. Chuck and his team are amazing. They are super friendly and fantastic at what they do. Today they made a simple repair to my daughter's necklace, shined it up, and charged me nothing!
Both times I have been at Sledge's long time customers (Chuck knew them by name) came in and it was as if they were family. I felt like family too after I left, and will definitely return for all of my jewelry and repair needs in the future. I love being able to give glowing reviews to these hidden gems.

Small hole in the wall shop. Very friendly staff that was accommodating with my schedule. I showed up right as this place was about to close. Instead of making me return they changed my watch battery promptly, and charged me a fair price. Will definitely be returning for future jewelers/watch repair needs

Wow what an awesome find Thank you Yelp for leading me here. Hidden in little shop in a random strip mall with a Rite Aid is some absolutely stunning vintage jewelry. For my daughters 16 birthday I wanted to get her some quality jewelry but there was no way I was buying her anything mass produced from a chain mall store. She has far more eclectic taste and would hate anything with a heart or something equally cliche.
So that started my hunt for vintage. For security reasons you need to be buzzed into the suite, so ignore the sticker that says pull it wont work even the second time (trust me I tried) you have to push the button. The store is small and when I went in the jeweler was there helping a customer, another yelper, listening in while browsing I found him to be very helpful to her with her needs and wants.
She took a card to come back another day. He of course greeted me when I came in but continued helping her while I looked around. I found a bracelet that was absolutely perfect. Moonstones and Amethysts bezel-set 1930's deco; just beautiful! It was a little more than I wanted to spend, they came down a little and I raised my budget for the perfect gift.
I left entirely happy and cannot wait to present this to Buttercup for her Birthday. There was a matching ring; I think I will call the store and ask if they can hold it for a short time till I can go back. I hate that I broke up the set and it would be a awesome future gift. They also do custom work I have some old jewelry I want to have reworked I'll update review once I do this.

Sledge's Estate Jewelry has been my family's jeweler for over twenty years. He can design custom jewelry and he was a nice inventory of jewelry available to purchase. He has designed jewelry for first ladies (Barbara Bush was one) He is extremely talented and his family has been in the jewelry business for over seventy years. Seventy one, I believe he said.
He is currently doing some repairs on a wedding set I purchased on ebay and I'm five star confident it will be gorgeous! If you want the best quality jewelry for the same prices or less than you would pay at one of those mall jewelry stores or large retail chains, with highest quality stones and craftsmanship, or a great deal on some vintage jewelry, you should definitely go to Estate Jewelry on Tustin and Chapman in the Rite Aid shopping center.
He is numero uno! I believe his prices are often negotiable too. Before you spend $2000.00 or more at a mall store or large retail chain for your sweethearts engagement ring, go see Sledge and find out how much more you can get for your money there. He's honest, experienced, and takes a lot of pride in his work. The people who work for him are great too. I will be adding pictures when I pick up my rings in a few days. Ask him about discounts when you pay cash for your purchase.

The staff and the main guy (older gentleman with a beard) are extremely friendly. Not fake friendly, genuinely nice and good people. Though this may sound weird in a review, I have to say that the man that owns this store is one of the nicest strangers I've met. I went in there during a very hard time in my life to sell an old engagement ring.
Not only did he give me a little more than the big store down the street, he talked to me for about 30 minutes, giving me positive words of encouragement. I did not go in there for anything like that but that's just the kind of person this is. He helped me in my time of need and gave me a lot of encouraging, faith-filled words. It's rare to find a businessman that actually cares about his clients but this one does. he is truly following a higher calling. thank you for your support.

When I recently turned to yelp for a little assistance in shopping for antique, estate, vintage, etc. engagement rings in the OC & LBC area, I was a bit disappointed at the lack of information, so in the interest of contributing to the pool of yelp knowledge, here is the second in a series of such reviews. This place is actually known as Sledge's, though it doesn't say so on the sign. Chuck Sledge is the proprietor of this little store in a shopping plaza, but don't let the modest exterior fool you - this (unlike my previous review) is far more than just a glorified pawn shop.
I will admit that it kind of looks like the place where you take your gold fillings when times get tough, but it's actually an established and legit jeweler. Chuck is very knowledgeable and friendly - loves to talk, give potential customers tutorials on diamonds, and build relationships to ensure return customers. This last part he mentioned a few times.
I can believe that Sledge's is for some a "best kept secret" type of place, and some of the vintage/estate rings that he had were stunning. At the same time, much of it is on consignment and the prices seemed to vary wildly. Try negotiating and see where it leads; definitely worth a visit.
