Gene's has replaced its original building and expanded to 2 more pawn shop locations in Greater Charleston, SC over the years.

I go into Gene's in North Charleston often, and Karrie is always there and knows how to treat a customer! She's always smiling and ready to help anyone who walks through that door! If I could give this place zero stars, I would. My friend bought me an $800 bracelet from here. The bracelet was too small, so I decided to return it in exchange for something else. I gave them the receipt and proceeded to check out. The clerk pulled up his name, then the manager came over and said that my friend would have to be present. Why? I have the receipt.
Make it make sense. I left the store, and my friend went back. The manager told him they could no longer honor the exchange bc it had been over thirty days. They failed to mention that to me when I was there. They failed to mention that to him upon purchasing the bracelet. There is no mention of the return policy on the receipt. It was verbally said to him that if he returned the bracelet, he would not get a refund but could exchange the bracelet for something else.
The manager did offer to repurchase the bracelet for $300 (shame on you) and the clerk that sold the bracelet said that would mess up my commission. She's more worried about her commission than customer satisfaction. My friend would no longer be doing business with this company. We are in a world riddled with covid so everyone can't get there in 30 days.

Gene's Jewelry & Pawn on Rivers Avenue in North Charleston is one of my favorite pawn shops in the area as they have a really good selection and variety of different items available for good prices. It is worth coming back here to see all of the newer items that they get in. I have had a really good experience every time I have been here.

This place is trash. They had a Canik Sp9 for sale for 300$ in dessert tan (the more desirable color) and it got sold. They have the exact same gun for sale right now in black for 400 and it retails for 300, so I called and asked if they could match the price of what a new one costs (300$) I go in there and then they tell me 300 is the take home price while neglecting to mention that on the phone.
What kinda business are these guys running? I heard not to go there and trust em and they certainly lost out on a great customer. The manager is totally incompetent (older black lady) If I could give zero stars I would. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
