This is a quality establishment. The family is wonderful and always helpful. I have been a customer for almost a decade and do not plan on changing that.

I came in with a ring purchased at one of the larger jewelry stores after the initial store refused to alter the ring and remove the cluster from the middle and put a solid stone in its place. I came to Alie's and without any hassle they were able to order in a stone for me and have it set and ready to pick up the very next day. A year later I went back to get an accent band added.

They not only took time to show me options but helped me chose an option that was $250 less that another, but had the accent rings in by the following day and my ring soldered and ready to pick up the following day. They are so kind and helpful here and didn't make me feel like I was a burden at all even when having to resize my ring for a second time because adding the bands made it too tight. This will be the only place I go to for my jewelry needs and am excited to start the next piece shortly!

An out of town friend replaced the battery in his watch and could not get the back of his watch back on afterward. I suggested he go to Alie Jewelers who went way above and beyond to help. The person at Alie jewelers spent MUCH time, patience and perseverance to get the back of my friends watch back on. Kudos to Alie jeweler. I will only buy from them! Leo fixed my wife's wedding ring when we thought it couldn't be fixed and the price was very reasonable. I bought my wife's big gift for Christmas this year (a cross necklace) and now my wife won't take it off. She loves it!

They are the nicest people too deal with. Their honest and upfront. They do fantastic repairs and the owners are on hand too answer your questions. Leo and Martha are the owners. Go in and look around tell them Roland sent you.

I love the opportunity to visit a family business and Alie Jewelers is a great example! I spent time reviewing their family history in their curio cabinet and enjoyed talking to them about my rings. Helpful, professional, trustworthy and reasonably priced - definitely 5 stars. I started going to them after my young daughter went to them and asked them to fix a cheap piece of costume jewelry that was not valuable to anyone - except to her. The jeweler who helped her told her there was a no charge - the reason? His grandfather wouldn't have liked it if he charged her

This is the ONLY place to shop for jewelry. This family owned local business is superb in every way. Repairs on site that are always perfect and special orders are accurate and timely. The displays make me want to own it all. Check out the swap top bracelet!

I took a $6000 Vera Wang set to be sized here. Not only did the band come back not round. but about a month later the weld on the engagement ring failed and the ring literally went through my finger! I had to go to the hospital to have them bend a very nice ring off my finger. I went back to Alie and explained what happened. They fixed it at no cost.

But that's all they did. I showed her the picture of the ring THROUGH my finger and I did not even get an apology. Maybe they should have also. I don't know.refunded me what I paid for to begin with? Icing on the cake was when I picked up my ring for the second time, she tells me that he added some gold so it wouldn't happen again. Thing is, I paid for that to begin with so it wasn't a favor lady. it should had been done the first time!

My husband is very thoughtful and generous with his gifts to me and has bought many pieces of jewelry from Alie's, and I love them all. Yesterday, I made a HUGE mistake by bringing a pair of two-tone earrings back, since one appeared to be tarnishing. Martha cleaned, Leo used a polishing machine.nothing helped. They said they'd return and get credit, gave me a receipt and would call.

When I got home, much to my chagrin, Martha called and said that the earrings I brought in were not from their store. We never buy good jewelry anywhere else. She said the vendor's name was not stamped on the gold. I was upset but told her I'd be by to pick them up. I went right to my jewelry box and found the pair that had been purchased at Alie's - very, very similar - for $375; the ones I thought had tarnished. Immediately, I called Martha back and apologized profusely for my mistake.

She told me the ones I brought in weren't even real gold. I must have bought a similar pair at a department store, gold plated, and they were the ones I brought in. I told her to throw them away. No harm, no foul. I'm so glad they caught my mistake, and they still have a very good customer for life : LuAnne Zaida

Mr Alie is very courteous and a genteel man. He helped guide me to a beautiful handpainted glass mirror customized for a christening gift. I am very grateful and can't wait to give to my great nephew!

Alie Jewelers in Portsmouth came highly recommended by a family friend and it was an absolute pleasure working with them from start to finish. Stephen and Jill helped us create a stunning non-traditional engagement ring (blue sapphire with diamond halo) that was better than anything we found online or in other stores around the NH seacoast. After researching options for several months (stones, settings, metals, styles, etc.) we came to Alie knowing that we'd need to build the ring the from scratch--which felt very intimidating at the time.

But Stephen and Jill were there to guide us during every step of the process. Stephen is an AGS certified gemologist and helped us tremendously with not only finding sapphires that were the right color/size/clarity, but also evaluating them to find the highest quality stones to fit our budget. He sourced several different loose stones that fit our criteria and got them in the store to see for ourselves.

My fiancee immediately fell in love with one of the sapphires (the color blue was perfect) and we were halfway there. We then worked with Jill on finding a diamond halo setting that would work with the round sapphire and also be sturdy enough to fit my fiancee's lifestyle (teacher/runner). Jill poured through all the options with us and was very transparent with pricing.

She helped us understand how different design, metal, and stone variations would all affect our costs. In the end, she helped us create a beautiful white gold diamond halo setting that looks absolutely stunning with the sapphire. It's been a few months since our engagement and my fiancee is still obsessed with her ring. And I'll admit that since I was so involved in the process, I'm minorly obsessed with it too.

She gets so many compliments and we've been recommending Alie to everyone we know. I should also add that we had the ring appraised by a third party jeweler for insurance purposes, and it appraised for significantly above what we paid for it. I'm honestly not surprised though. I knew as soon as I saw the finished product that they helped us create an amazing ring.

I cannot recommend Stephen and Jill enough. Their knowledge, patience, expertise, and attention to detail were a saving grace during what could have been an overwhelming process. We're looking forward to visiting them again to choose our wedding bands. If you're considering buying a ring online or at another NH jewelry store, do yourself a favor and visit Alie Jewelers instead. They're a family business who can work within your budget to find (or create) a ring that's exactly what you're looking for.

We buy all of our jewelry here, the quality is unsurpassed, I have friends who have bought from name brand stores and the stuff has fallen apart, they bring it to Leo at alie jewelers and it lasts forever. Highly recommend, you will not be dissapointed.

We have known Alie's Jewelers for over 25 years. They have always been able to help us with any occasion. I was looking for just the right ring for my wife. She has a signet ring from her fathers family. What she actually had was a mold for the family "Shield". We first asked Leo what he could do to help us. After much "digging", Leo found just the right place to have the ring made (with the right size) for my wife.

The ring was, and still is, beautiful! Perfect in every way. I still am thankful for the time Leo put into making sure we had just right ring. If you need something simple or something complex Alie's is the place to go. Alie's even has those nice little, special, things that say " I love you" for any occasion! I highly recommend Alie's. They will be our Jeweler for many generations as well as our friends.

We had such a wonderful experience here. The jewelers know their stuff and they're super helpful and give great advice. They have beautiful jewelry here and great customer service - we came fairly close to when we were getting married and they made sure we got our ring in time.

This is def the BEST JEWELRY store in this area! We went to many shops searching for wedding bands, and even the fancy stores, didn't have 18K gold (what was the most important point for us). Alie had a lot of models of 18K wedding bands with a super friendly treatment! The owner explained everything we wanted to understand about gold, sizes, comfort, models. They also had the best price and the best time to deliver! Our rings are amazing! Was the perfect shop!

I bought my fiancee's engagement ring here and I really can't say enough good things about the way I was treated and the quality of the goods I received. The manager, Steve, explained every detail about choosing the right diamond and setting to me and was extremely patient with me as I had lots of questions and did lots of shopping around.

He found a diamond that was the perfect size and price and helped me choose a beautiful setting that we got custom ordered for the diamond. Steve obviously has a very deep understanding of gemstones and the jewelry making business. As far as I know, Steve (and others at Alie) is one of the only AGS Certified Gemologists in the southern NH area, which explains it.

You won't get that at a Mall store! I will absolutely be going back for the next special occasion and would recommend them to anyone jewelry shopping in the Seacoast area. Oh, and she loved the ring! (Note that this review is for the Portsmouth, NH location, I haven't been to the Dover one)

Intelligent jeweler. This is what one needs when selecting a ring that should last a lifetime and be a product that is appropriate for the money spent. Jill was exceedingly helpful along with comfortable to work with. She measured me multiple times to ensure a proper size. There was no end to trying on the inventory in the store. Next day delivery to Vermont was not questioned and the ring arrived as promised.

Would absolutely never go there again, or suggest anyone to. Woman who "helped me" was extremely rude. Very condescending and a terrible listener. I've been told the owner is great, so if you go there, walk STRAIGHT past her to talk to him. She was an all around terrible salesperson.
