P uttin' on the Glitz is among the Seacoast's most fascinating shops for today's discriminating woman. Located at 150 State Street in downtown Portsmouth, the shop is a stunning little jewel box filled with fabulous, upscale fashion jewelry and stunning accessories that are ideal for everyday, as well as for special occasions.

Visited a while back and we had a great time. Beautiful hats in this place, and what an awesome experience we had shopping Although they do not allow you take photos of the hats which is disappointing, I do understand why. Their hats are one of a kind and extremely high quality. If every shopper came there and treated it like an Instagram photo booth (especially in todays day and age), the hats would be too worn out to be worth the asking price, and that just wouldn't be fair for the shop owner.
It's a high end hat boutique, not a costume shop. It really isn't uncommon to request no taking photos in this case. It is honestly really amazing how much they allow just any shopper to interact with and try on some of these expensive hats! I was amazed. The shop associate was very kind and welcoming, helped us find just what we were looking for in our price range even after letting us try on those well above it. We had the best time in the store. I bought the cutest hat and will likely buy others there next time I am in town!

My son and daughter in law went to this shop while on their honeymoon. His wife found a hat she very much liked and my son wanted to buy a gift for her. When he went to the register to pay he was surprised at the price (she never saw it). He didn't want to deny her so he bought it for her, as well as another hat. When he went outside and told his bride how much it was, she wanted him to immediately return it as they are on a budget. They went back within 5 minutes, and the owner would not allow the return citing she is a small business. Dispicable!

Very rude associate, was talking to other customers about my friends and I (we were just walking around Portsmouth) as we were walking around looking at hats and earrings. she was telling the other customers "i always have to watch groups like them" and as we were going down the stairs yelled at us to "not take pictures of the hats" very rudely to which we left as we were uncomfortable with how she was talking about us to other customers and to myself. very rude and uncalled for. i think she's homophobic (i was with my girlfriend).

Completely rude associate. I was interested in purchasing a hat and the sales woman walked up to and stated just so you know we don't allow pictures. I didn't even have my phone out to take a photo. Her rude tone influenced me not to purchase anything. Instead I left the store. I don't recommend this boutique to anyone.

If I could give negative stars I would. This was one of the rudest businesses I have ever visited. My family and I were on vacation at the beach and decided to visit Portsmouth for the night. We walked by "Puttin' on the Glitz" and noticed all of the hats. You see my mom is battling breast cancer and has lost all of her hair from the chemo treatments.
She has bought several hats during this time and we thought we may be able to find some in this store to add to her collection, maybe a fun beach hat! As we entered the store there was one saleswoman on the phone behind the counter.she never greeted us, asked us if we needed assistance, or even looked up at us, she clearly was on a very important personal phone call.
Keep in mind my mom is completely bald with nothing hiding her head, I would call that your target market customer in a hat store! We began trying on the hats and were having some fun with it. We were modeling them on for my mom and I asked my fiance in the store to take a picture of all of us in the hats, when all of a sudden, the rude saleswoman finally decides to acknowledge us by saying, "Excuse me, you are not allowed to take any picture of the hats" then goes back to her very important phone call.
We all looked at a each in complete shock of how rude she was and immediately left the store. Had this woman taken one minute to even look up at my mom, she may have noticed her bald head and that she may actually be there to shop for a hat. This store not only lost our business, but our future business, and hopefully the business of anyone reading this review. Way to go "Puttin' on the Glitz".you officially took the fun out of cancer patients shopping for hats.
