Bead World

I really liked this place as a whole until I had my nose pierced. At the time, we had a very positive experience getting pierced, but it was like night and day afterwards. The piercer was friendly, funny, patient and addressed our concerns. I was told to feel free to call or come in with any questions. I was worried when I found a bump growing inside my nose filling up the post, and the piercer didn't even look at it.

Just told me it was infected and I should put tea tree oil on it and do a sea salt soak. Told me not to worry. Seemed very disengaged and uninterested. Distraught, I went to Atmosphere Tattoo to see if another piercer could actually look at my piercing and help me figure out what was going on - seeking the help I had hoped to get from the original piercer.

They were so kind and helpful, and replaced the nose bone with a flat back stud more conducive to healing. I wish I had gone to them first! On a separate note, we do like the place alot as a bead shop. There really isn't anything else like it in the area in that respect.

I got my helix piercing here today and it looks awesome. The service was great. I'll be getting any future piercings done here.

I love bead world. The family who owns it is so friendly and will help you find what you are looking for. I've taken so many friends with me to come to bead world for unique jewelry that I can't find elsewhere.

Would absolutely never get pierced here again. Piercer is unlicensed w/o regard for safety or customer health which I did not realize at the time when I came in to get my bellybutton pierced. Everything was fine the piercer was a little unnecessarily creepy, told me I was "tense" and asked what my boyfriend thought of that (which I wrote off at the time as his eccentricity).

He instructed me to just keep cleaning my piercing with soap and water. I've never had a bad reaction to a piercing before as I have several (even the ones I have done myself), and I developed a keloid the size of a jellybean. Extremely tender and painful. I came back in to ask for help or advice and the piercer was extremely rude and aggressive towards me, very defensive basically told me to get out.

I ended up actually having to go to the doctor and take antibiotics to prevent infection. I don't often leave reviews and it is unfortunate that I have such a poor one for this establishment but in the interest of public safety DO NOT GET PIERCED HERE.

04/02/2022 - I didn't really have a good experience when I got my nose pierced. The older man that does the piercing was really rude to me. He made remarks that caught me off guard. He made a comment about how I have selective hearing. He made a bunch of unnecessary comments that he could have kept to himself. Definitely did not help ease my nerves.

It's almost as if he was annoyed that I was nervous. The next day, I called him and asked him a question about my new piercing. He seemed very annoyed at me for asking a question and didn't give me a helpful response. So unprofessional. How are you going to preach about calling you when we have questions, but refuse to help? I had to call another piercing place and they were able to answer all the questions I had.

I will definitely be going to another piercing place when it's time for me to change my piercing. I will most certainly not be returning back here anytime soon. 04/07/2022 Update: I went to Atmosphere Tattoo Gallery in Schaumburg to get my piercing checked out. The people there are so much more nicer. I had to get it removed because the old man here pierced it incorrectly and too deep with cheap jewelry. Now I have to wait to get it pierced again. Don't make the mistake of getting a piercing here. There are better places in the area.

Horrible and very rude people. Do NOT support this business or these people! Horrible experience in their store. Found better selection and prices at Michaels for what I was looking for!

What an awesome place, Phil is so professional and nice, he helps me with all my watches, he knows what he's doing and I trust him every time, (even with stuff I didn't get from here ) I've purchased 2 watches, did my helix piercing, and purchased a ring, all very good quality materials and name brands -- About 6months ago I walked in wanting my helix pierced I was nervous, but Bob made me comfortable because he's a perfectionist in these things, I love my earrings, I love the way it looks, I was referred to them by a very good tattoo artist in the north shore area.

He sent me to bead world because he doesn't do piercings, and he only will recommend the best. No one is walking in here without wanting only the best proper way of piercings done, never with a gun, only with the needle. I didn't feel much pain. I'm really happy and satisfied I found this place.

We went here for my daughters first ear piercing. The piercer was professional explained all the steps and care for home. He made sure to make my daughter feel like the client and went at her pace. We are very happy and would return. They use disposable sterilized needles and have options for earrings.

My 6 year old wanted her ears pierced and I was hesitant about Claire's and saw someone recommended this place on social media. They were wonderful! It is family owned and the wife and son were so supportive and encouraging to my daughter while she waited her turn. The husband pierced her ears and he measured a few times and talked to her every step of the way and told her what he was doing. They were all fantastic and I highly recommend them!

First never got an earring before. They were awesome! Just go there for the awesome jewelry and browse! Much love to my new friends!

Came here the other day with a friend of mine to get our inner ear pierced. We met with the owner? He is a former tattoo artist. The dad I believe. Had a great time talking to him and his daughter. Maybe she's the owner? They went through the process, make sure we saw the sterilize needles and gave us follow up directions. Would highly recommend for a piercing. Also they have quite an extensive inventory of beads. Which I guess makes sense because of the name!

I went in for my scheduled appointment. When I walked in, there was a man and woman towards the back having a conversation that both worked there. I was not properly greeted immediately and they continued with their conversation. I believe the man is the son of the piercer. The piercer was still working on someone so I prorused for several minutes (no big deal as I was a little late to my appointment). Piercer was joking and laughing with the customer and when he came out didn't acknowledge me just kind of looked at me.

When he finally acknowledged me he was moving from the piercing room back to the front of the store. He appeared annoyed and asked what I needed. I proceeded to tell him that I wanted to get two piercings changed. He asked if I could do it myself, I assumed he was being funny and said no. He said son he's looking for the magic word and it's the end of the day.

I was confused. The piercer proceeded to state "In my country when we want something we say please." He called me rude for not saying please. I'm paying for a service and I informed him about what I wanted. He acted as if I was asking for a free service. I told him that it's evident that he has an attitude and do not need his services. I left and went to Atmosphere Tattoo Gallery.

No appointment was needed and they were able to accommodate me right away. The best part is they change piercings for FREE. I tipped the piercer there with the money I would had to pay to have my two piercings removed. Also, the piercer is not a real piercer as I later notified. I suggest you go somewhere with better customer service.

My daughter had her tragus pierced last weekend and it got so infected (see picture) that it is being removed by a doctor right now and she has to be on antibiotics. Another artist looked at the earring and it was the wrong gauge with the incorrect backing and a post that was too short for a tragus (it's just a regular earring! See picture). It was also pierced at an angle instead of straight in.

I called and they absolutely do not stand behind their work. No apologies or even a question about her health. The man who answered the phone was rude and condescending. Would NEVER recommend for any type of specialty piercing. Total hack job

Got my septum done here. Staff is friendly.it's a husband and wife. Husband learned how to pierce early on in life and just kept doing it. He can pierce but I don't believe he has any formal training. He used clamps and just shoved it thru with a piercing needle. He has jewelry but not many options. My piercing was too close to the cartilage - bad placement. Had to take out and let it heal. He is a great and funny guy but I wouldn't recommend his piercing as he isn't a professional just has experience but not experience doing it the right way.

The owner is beyond rude. Made a racist remark to me years ago and have told others to steer clear.

Excellent ear piercing! Very knowledgeable and calming. My daughter was very nervous but as soon as we walked in to Bead World, she felt at ease. Very clean. Highly recommend!

Recently got my 3rd piercing here. I got my tragus done in 2013, rook in 2019 and just got my cartilage pierced. All were phenomenal experiences. If you follow the instructions they give you, the healing process should go smoothly. Everything is clean and good quality. The piercer will talk you through everything from the quality of jewelry and needle beforehand up through the piercing is complete. I don't think I've ever been in there for more than 20min (not bc I'm being rushed but because it's good service.) I recommend this place to everyone.

The guy is an anti-masker nut. He was insulting & insinuating supports of conspiracy theories. He told my daughter anti-bacterial hand sanitizer doesn't work & made fun of her double masking. To make things worse, he pierced her ears so UNEVEN, she has to let them close. DON'T GO! PS we watched them treat their elderly employee with disrespect. NO THANKS!

Don't go here. I got my septum done and it was pierced completely wrong and way too low. Through the bottom part of the cartilage. It's not worth it. Do not go here.

If you want someone to hold your hand, baby you or comfort you duing piercing this place is not for you. Bobby is very professional and opinionated Greek man who does not like goofing around or whining. He is good at what he does and he knows it. That said, Bobby is very welcoming, funny and easy going, he made me feel comfortable. I pierced my nipples and nose and had no major issues.

Everything he used was clean and sterile. He used individualy wrapped piercing needles. After, he took his time and gave me clear and ditailed cleaning and after care instructions. My piercings are healing good and fast with no problems or issues. My only issue was that after Bobby put piercing marks with his marker for placement it looked perfect and centered. Duing piercing process placement of the niddle moved a little bit and my piercing was 1 mm off original marks. Luckily it happened with both nipples and it still looks even but definitely not centered.

My advice, remind him to be more careful with that. Another minor thing that bothered me that he is not allowing any photos taken at all. I would definitely go back there for my future piercings. Not sure if I would take my little daughter for her 1st piercing there.

Not licensed piercers, mine and my friends belly button wasn't pierced through our navel : my cartilage was also pierced wrong and won't heal properly

Do not get piercings here! I went in to get my nose pierced here. The piercer raved about the high quality of jewelry and how he was the best piercer. The same day the piercing came half out due to incorrect jewelry being put in. Upon piercing my nose, I have NEVER bled that much, it was actually dripping from the inside of my nose. I eventually had to go to an actual piercing studio/tattoo parlor and INSTANTLY the guy knew I had gone to Bead world due to the incorrect placement of the piercing, and cheap jewelry.

The piercer was very friendly but simply has no professional piercing qualifications. I understand it's a family owned shop and I will always support family places. But save your money and pain. go to an actual piercing shop.

Recently shopped here in search of earrings that would not irritate sensitive ears. Staff was very helpful in deciding which ones to buy that would be appropriate for the piercings that I have. I have been here in the past to get piercings, assist in taking out jewelry and to look for unique pieces. They are piercing during covid, all staff is gloved/masked. They give alcohol wipes with products and are very sanitary. Will definitely be back!

Very sweet family-run place. the piercer is friendly and funny and talks you through it, makes you comfortable. i got my doubles on my earlobe and it was $40 with 24k gold jewelry included. very reasonable. they also have a cool selection of beads, charms, pendants, rings, and necklaces

In the past haven't had any issues. Happy with the work and have referred several friends to get piercings. Today was a different story! The ring in my daughter's daith came out last week and she wanted to make sure the hole hadn't closed (newer piercing) so she could get something new put in. The guy who does the piercing was VERY RUDE to my daughter for asking a simple question!

No idea was his issue was. She was so upset by his attitude she walked out and does not even want to go back. You may be good at what you do and you may have some good reviews but if you disrespect your customers, they won't be your customers for long!

I went here in January for 3 piercings: doubles, and then one triple on my left ear (all on the lobe). The piercing went completely fine even though I made sure to ask if I could fit a triple on my ear cause my ears are small, to which he said it was fine and didn't really examine my ear. (This isnt the worst thing, but just thought I should note that he didn't really give me advice and I haven't gotten a piercing in years, but maybe I should've vocalized that).

My piercings were fine for a while and the doubles healed pretty nicely, I only had the occasional pain if I slept on it, etc. However, the triple on my left lobe caused me a lot of problems. I made sure to clean it watch it but I am almost positive it was infected at some point. I developed a keloid on the front. I had to take the earring out and tend to it which seemed to make the ear heal and bring the swelling down very quickly.

But anytime I had the earring in it hurt. At this point I wondered if it was just the shape of my ear that made it harder to heal (hence why I brought up my asking if a third earring could fit on my lobe) and let the hole close. Where I'm just confused is to why I had a lot of problems with that earring if I was cleaning the others the same and had no issues.

Maybe it was the shape of my ear, but yet again I feel like he should've taken the time to understand his cliental since every persons ear is different. I would've gotten it done in a different place on my ear or not gotten it at all if the professional told me it wasn't a good idea. I would just say there is a lot more places you could go that do a more thorough, comfortable job.

This place is absolutely incredible! They have so many things that catch your eye like earrings, beads, rings, necklaces, bracelets as well as loose rocks and beads. I highly recommend Bead World to anyone who is looking for unique jewelry! You will love this place no question about it!
