My wife does not wear a lot of jewelry so I don't buy jewelry often but when I do, I only buy it from Tom Daube at Washington Diamond! From our engagement rings to jewelry for births, anniversaries and special birthdays, Washington Diamond is the store where I have found success. It sounds cliche but people make the difference and Wash Diamond owner Tom D and some of his team members like Virginia, plus good pricing, and trust that the product is quality give me confidence and peace of mind in transactions that I don't do all the time.

Terrible experience went in and gentleman who let me in was very arrogant and disrespectful with me. I was coming in inquiring about a trade or to purchase an engagement ring and disrespected me. Then went in and they apparently thought I had no knowledge of diamonds and they showed me the worst products they had. I left feeling like I wasn't "Good" enough for there store

We had a concept for bands to accompany her engagement ring. Washington Diamond created exactly what we wanted. Superb service from knowledgeable experts.

My partner had my ring formed here at Washington Diamond without any insight to my ring size in order to keep the proposal a surprise, so my first interaction with Washington Diamond was getting the ring resized. I came in on Tuesday and worked with Janelle who allowed me to try on a few sizes for comfort, explained the difference my winter fingers would arrive to come summer, and shared that the resizing would be completed by Friday.

The ring was ready Thursday! I worked with Virginia on Thursday for pickup, and she made me feel soo good about the ring itself! She must see fabulous rings all the time, and yet when she brought mine out, she wowed at it and everything and it was such a nice feeling. Then before leaving Thursday, I got to see the Sharon who not only recommended the place to my partner in the first place, but she works there, too.

Before leaving, she asked me about my entire experience. I let her know how fast the resizing was and she let me in on their quickness for first timers, since they're aware of how much the newly engaged feel off with out the ring. They think of everything! Sharon talked to me about the security of the location with the two-door locked access and how safe the office is, she spoke emphatically over how the display pre-Covid, and even offered for me to come by anytime to get my ring freshened up before a night out or just because I feel like it. While engagement is already a special time, Washington Diamond made it even more so with their warm and hospitable nature. I could not be happier with my experience.

After having checked out a few other diamond stores in the area, I was disappointed with their lack of knowledge and/or service. It was then a friend recommended me to Washington Diamond. I had wrongly thought Washington Diamond was pricer than other diamond stores; they are not. From the moment my husband and I met with Tom, we were put at ease. The project we were working on was a complete reset to a diamond which included hard to find shield cut diamonds and a custom made band that had several requirements. Tom immediately had sources to call and stones for us to see the next day.

Mind you, these are not stones that are readily available in the market - even for jewelers. He also went to work on designing a custom setting and had his goldsmiths work on the most perfect ring which fits beautifully against my entity band. Tom and his team included small, personal details which make this piece very heartfelt and stand out. I'm always skeptical of extremely positive reviews, but they're all true when it comes to Washington Diamond. Tom was very kind, helpful and knowledgeable. I was thrilled when he told me my damaged engagement ring could be repaired when another jeweler informed me it could not be fixed. I'm so happy with the final result, such beautiful craftsmanship!

I went to Washington Diamond with just a few pencil sketches and stones from our families, hoping to create my ideal engagement ring. Tom Daube helped me work through the ideas and find the best ring to use as a base, then the in-house team of jewelers made the finishing touches to make it a reality. They were able to beautifully set three stones in a unique ring that my wife adores.

I had such a great experience working with Tom that we went back for our wedding bands, too, and he was able to get us exactly what we were looking for. All-in-all, Tom was an absolute pleasure to talk with and was not at all a pushy or aggressive salesman. If I recall correctly, our first appointment consisted solely of discussing my thoughts and him showing me a few possibilities, and I walked out empty-handed to check out a few other shops.

For years I wanted to sell some of my jewelry, but not knowing a lot about it and worried about getting a fair price stopped me from doing so. Then I had the good fortune of running across Tom at Washington Diamond. After a very positive experience with wedding ring selection here, I came back when I had some gold jewelry to sell. It was not a pleasant experience with the quote coming in VERY low. I had looked up the rate of gold/gram already and the quote received was abusive. When I questioned it, the guy (not Tom) was a bit belligerent. Anyway, then he re-calculated and brought the amount up almost $1K.

My radar was pinging though, so I took my gold someplace else and they paid me $800 over the increased quote. Unfortunately, this experience makes me question Washington Diamond overall.

We purchased my engagement ring and our wedding bands from Washington Diamond. Over the years, my engagement ring had some wear to it and Washington Diamond did everything they could to fix the damage and work with me to solve further damage to happen. I appreciate all the help, the service, professionalism and the outcome up my experience with them. We will continue to use them for future jewelry purchases. They have proven to be repeatable, honest and reasonable.

This place appears on lists of top places for jewelry repairs. So, I decided to stop by and bring some broken items I have - two pearl necklaces and a pearl ring. The front door was locked, so I had to speak with someone on an intercom to be buzzed in. I then think there was another door that I also had to be allowed in. Once inside, I found a totally empty place except for a woman at a reception desk.

I asked her if they repaired jewelry, and she said they did. So, I pulled out my pieces to show her. The next thing I know another woman is standing next to me and looking me over. I told her that I had some pieces that I was looking to have fixed. Without looking them over, holding them, examining them, inquiring about them or anything, she announced it would be $99 for each piece because that is what they charge for everything. $99 per repair!

That struck me as so strange! I'm used to bringing my items to jewelers, having them examine them and discuss them with me, and then receiving a call within a day or two with a quote. How can you give a quote for a piece without having any idea of what work and parts are needed to repair it or even what the customer is looking to have done? I really got the vibe that she was acting this way intentionally because for whatever reason she had no interest in fixing the jewelry.

I mentioned that one of the necklaces broke shortly after I had it repaired from another place, and she told me I should just take it back to them. I don't think she was trying to save me money. I think she was trying to get rid of me. It was a really weird and uncomfortable experience. So, I just bagged up my belongings and left the store. I got back into my car and drove further up the street to a lovely shop in Vienna where my broken jewelry and I were very warmly welcomed!

I left this building with the BIGGEST smile on my face. Tom and his team went above and beyond to create my husband and my custom wedding bands and we are never ever going back to a retail diamond store again! Never ever. Everyone who works here is delightful, no one more than Tom Daube. My husband purchased my engagement ring through a retail jeweler and other than that we had no experience buying jewelry. Tom walked us through the process as well as every cost so we felt comfortable every step of the way.

We could show him reference photos or, in the case of my husband, sketches of the rings we wanted and Tom ran with it. He was respectful of our concepts and helped elevate the designs with his expertise; all while respecting our budget as well. He was goofy, thoughtful, and incredibly knowledgeable. Tom even made sure to get our separate contact information so we could surprise each other on the day of our wedding with our custom pieces. You are in safe hands here. We cannot recommend them enough.

A family ring I had somehow became damaged (the stone fell out of its setting). I took it to Washington Diamond and they took a look at it- only for me to learn that the stone had chipped, which was why it fell out of its setting. Tom Daube helped me- and he couldn't have been kinder or more helpful! Anyway, they reset the ring and replaced the stone.and the result was amazing!

It looks BETTER than it did before it was damaged. I can't recommend the folks over at Washington Diamond enough. I will be telling everyone I know about how good their work is and and easy it is to work with them.

I honestly didn't know what kind of engagement ring I wanted. After shopping at another jewelry store in DC where I struggled to find something that worked for me, a friend told us to visit Washington Diamond. Since Washington Diamond is appointment only, we felt we got personalized service and weren't rushed at all. We worked with Tom and he was incredibly patient and helpful.

In an hour, with only some unclear guidance from me, he helped us design a custom ring that I truly love! The pricing was also very reasonable and we felt we got more value from our selection than at other stores. We plan on returning to buy wedding bands.

I had no involvement in the planning/purchasing of my engagement ring, so I can't comment on that process, but I know that my fiance was extremely happy with the service, professionalism (and hopefully the price, ha!) of Washington Diamond. I gave my now-fiance pictures of several rings that I liked, and he went to Washington Diamond and they created a custom ring based on the guidelines I had shared (rose gold, oval cut diamond, etc).

I researched and visited a handful of jewelers in the DC area and knew I found the right one to buy an engagement ring after my first meeting with Tom. Washington Diamond is by appointment-only so you get dedicated time to talk through what you like and dislike. I researched diamonds and bands before walking in, but through talking with Tom, narrowed the selection down and found the perfect one.

The selection of diamonds provided a good range of size, quality, and price to choose from. I also loved that the platinum bands were made right there on-location. The satisfaction guarantee also put my mind at ease with picking out a ring without my fiancee seeing it. In the worst case, we could go back and choose something else for the full value of the original.

I first dealt with Washington diamond more than 20 years ago for an engagement ring after receiving a recommendation from a friend. After returning some fifteen years later for resizing I was treated as family. I would never go anywhere else for high quality jewelry. If you want fantastic customer service, competitive prices, and not just a find in store selection but the expertise to create custom jewelry, this is the place. Highly recommended.

I cannot recommend Washington Diamond enough! My fiance and I went to Washington Diamond after it was recommended by a friend, and we happily decided to get my engagement ring there after meeting with Walter. The entire process was unbelievably smooth - Walter was extremely knowledgeable and kind, and I felt that we were in very good hands from the beginning!

I never felt at any point in time that he was trying to upsell us, and I felt very comfortable that he was answering our questions honestly without focusing on profit. The ring ended up being very reasonably priced! I wanted a non-traditional ring - one with small, non-diamond gemstones. Walter was extremely supportive, and helped design a (custom) ring that is absolutely gorgeous!

I mentioned an interest in emeralds, and Walter suggested an alternative - tsavorite garnets - that are a gorgeous color of green, and more resistant to damage. He called around to a number of places to source the stones, and ended up finding something extremely lovely. The whole process was as easy as it possibly could have been - Walter maintained communication at different stages of design, and I ended up getting the finished product about three weeks after our initial appointment. I *strongly* recommend both Walter and Washington Diamond, and am extremely happy with the finished ring!

I couldn't have asked for a better experience with Washington Diamonds. I initially contacted the store through Yelp to get a quote to redesign my engagement ring. We set up an appointment to have them look at my ring in person. My ring is a family heirloom and while I loved the look and design, it presented some challenges in finding a wedding band that would go with it.

I asked Tom at Washington Diamonds for his input on either having a custom wedding band made or if I should redesign the ring to go with a straight wedding band. He presented me with the pros and cons of both options and gave me a fair price (mid-range compared to quotes I received at other jewelers). I decided to ask him to redesign my engagement ring. He was friendly, professional and knowledgeable. In less than 2 weeks, I had my redesigned ring and I love it!
