RD Allen Freeport Jewelers specializes in tourmaline and other colored gem stones. We excel in providing a wide variety of traditional, classic and fashion forward pendant, earrings, ring and other jewelry designs. We are privileged to work with some of the most outstanding goldsmiths in the region to provide you with full service jewelry repair and custom designs.
Tourmaline has been a treasured gemstone for more than 2,000 years, and comes in over 200 recognized hues, which is far more than any other gemstone. Beyond individual hues, tourmaline crystals are sometimes banded with more than one color which, once cut into gemstones, are called bi-color tourmalines or watermelon tourmalines, due their uncanny resemblance to the fruit.
Our custom gallery provides you with a sampling of past custom creations that we have made for our gallery and for our customers. The end result for our customers is the fruition of close collaboration. The designs reflect the input of an array of Maine and New England designers as they bring to life our customer's vision.

My husband and I visited RD Allen Jewelers on July 23 because I really wanted a piece of watermelon tourmaline. Annette helped us pick out the perfect pendant and chain. This store has the largest selection of watermelon tourmaline I have seen. I also trusted Annette to sell us a piece that was authentically Maine. She is very knowledgeable and should be on your list to visit. I would definitely come back next time we're in Freeport (hoping next year)!

I came here with high hopes for engagement ring shopping. The employee that helped me did not listen to a word I said. I repeated multiple times that I was not interested in diamonds, and they kept only giving me rings with diamonds on them. The employee also did not stay remotely within my price range when showing me rings. Lastly, they could not tell me anything about where the gems were mined. Disappointing service.

I bought a pair of Maine tourmaline earrings at R.D. Allen's last year. They quickly became a favorite of mine right up until the day I lost one. I contacted the store to see if a replacement was possible. I spent lots of time consulting with Annette before deciding upon having the remaining stone made into a simple, yet stunning, ring and purchasing new tourmaline posts.

This place is very special to my heart. Great prices, super friendly staff, beautiful pieces. Each time I go in there, I find something new! That's what I love about it! Also, really exceptional repair work. I had my grandmother's vintage wedding ring restored and they did a fantastic job with it. When I saw it complete, I was in tears. it was just perfect!

Awesome jewelry Her Maine Tourmaline is so beautiful. I love the American Bead collections too. I had some diamonds from my Mom who passed away 2 years ago and we created a very pretty pendant that I wear frequently and makes me feel very close to my Mom. I can't thank Annette enough for this wonderful pendant. Love the Cat and dog fever rings too!

Annette is absolutely the best! I have purchased several individual pieces and sets from RD Allen and love every one of them. Annette also worked with me on a custom ring using a family stone that needed repair. It is absolutely beautiful. I would trust no one else to do such work with a sentimental item!
