In 1972, Bengt A. Espling chose to leave his successful corporate job as a vice president of a national jewelry chain to found his own business, Espling Jewelers. Starting in Southgate Plaza as a watch repair shop providing warranty service of Timex watches as well as high grade brands, Espling was able to expand throughout Jacksonville as a local jeweler still providing excellent service.
Early in Bengt's life, he trained under the renowned master horologist Henry B. Fried. In the founding days of Espling, he spent time repairing watches and transferring that knowledge to his children.

The round brilliant cut diamond is by far the most popular and most researched diamond shape available today. For almost 100 years, diamond cutters have been using advanced theories of light behavior and precise mathematical calculations to optimize the fire and brilliance in a round diamond. In addition to being the most popular and researched shape, a round diamond will typically give you more flexibility in terms of balancing cut, color, and clarity grades while still getting the fire and brilliance you want.

The best local jewelers in Jacksonville! No, the best anywhere! This is a family business that has been here in Jacksonville for generations and they treat their customers like part of that family. I have purchased from them and also used them for many years for all kinds of jewelry repair. They even melted down my parents first gold wedding bands for me and used that gold to enlarge the band on a ruby ring of my mother's! I recommend them highly!

Fantastic experience with Espling Jewelers! I had to take two rings to Espling to be resized and adjusted. They are heirloom pieces within my family and I was very concerned about a few aspects surrounding the rings. Ben and his staff were incredibly attentive, caring, and provided exceptional customer care throughout the experience. They clearly know their stuff!
I would highly recommend Espling to anyone in need of jewelry care and repair! I will not go to anyone else with my jewelry going forward! A big Thank You to Espling Jewelers!

For all who are looking for quality jewelry repair, this establishment is a Five Star. Starting with the young lady who called me back to inform me she had received my voice message, that I had left after hours. I did not answer at the time of the return call, which was the next business day. I did have my wife drop off the ring on a Tuesday, by Friday I had another call informing me the ring was ready to be picked up. BTW, this was the first trip to have the ring fixed, after it was sized. Initially, it was fine, but cracked two months later. No questions asked. They guarantee their work.

I started my experience by calling into esplings before driving 40 minutes there. I told them about an engagement ring I wanted to sell. They told me they were very interested. I drive there and work with the owner, Ben. He was extremely rude and insulting. I am shocked he was the owner by his demeanor. He stated could sell my ring for $500 in his showroom floor but he had to make some money.
He offered me $150 for the ring, when I tried to negotiate for more he dropped his offer. He was disrespectful and I'm not surprised I was the only customer in there from the time I arrived and left. Do not waste your time going to this place.

Usually I don't write reviews, but the service I received from Espling Jewelers will not go unnoticed. I'm very skeptical when leaving my jewelry with anyone, but I felt completely at ease leaving my ring with Ben because he's sincere, trustworthy and very knowledgeable. One of my diamonds fell out from my ring while vacationing in Jacksonville with my family. Espling Jewelers didn't mind working on another jewelers ring. Ben put in a new diamond, repaired/reinforced the prongs and cleaned the ring so well that you can see the diamond sparkle from across the room. Thank you Ben for outstanding service and dependable advice throughout the entire process. I highly recommend Espling Jewelers for everything jewelry.

Went in waited 3 weeks and paid 40 dollars to have the crystal replaced on my watch. I got my watch back with the back all scratched and the numbers started falling off the face. Went back in and was told they needed another 25 to pop a number back in place that fell out because of their shit work. Take your jewelry to someone who knows what their doing

Espling jeweler ripped me off. I took a ring in to be returned I left it there for them because the manager wasn't in. I told him that the size was wrong and I wanted to exchange it or get my money back. When I returned the ring had been sized and they charged me for that size or I wouldn't get the ring back. He gave me a big story about his overhead and his cause that had nothing to do with my ring.
I wouldn't buy or recommend espeling Jewelers to anyone ever. it ruined my Christmas. To be fair for the review, it was the store that was on Baymeadows Road at the time. But management should have more control and better policies for all their stores.

Over the past 10 years I have used Espling Jewelers to repair watches, rings and chains. They have a fair price and great customer service. It does take longer than other jewelers to get it done but it is because of the quality of work they do. They do not rush a repair just to get your money. Please do not listen to just one unhappy customer but to many that are pleased with the quality of the work and the professional staff they have. Great place to do business with and I will keep coming back,

Took my watch in for a repair, they told me it needed to be sent out so I agreed. They told me it would probably take about two weeks but that they could not be certain about the time frame. It took over a month to get it back. I understand that if they are not the people repairing it that they cannot tell me exactly how long it will take, but what bothered me was that they never called to update me or let me know the status of it.
I called a few times over the course of that month to see if they had any updates on it and they just kept saying that they had no new information and seemed upset that I called once or twice a week (after the original two week expectation had passed) in the hopes that they might be able to give me more information. I know that they can't control how much information a third-party gives them, but I felt as thought more could have been done on their part in the ways of trying to contact the company and find out why it was taking so long, and also to keep me in the loop about it. On a separate note, the older lady (who I believe owns the store), has been somewhat snide in the past and not very courteous.

I bought two Fruitz watches through Groupon at a steal, and shortly after they arrived the battery in one went dead. No biggie. I went to my watch repair place in Atlanta (where I lived at the time) and replaced it. A few months later, right after I moved to Jax, the other watch dies. So I pop into Espling thinking I just need to replace this battery, too.
The guy takes my watch in the back, then returns a few minutes later and says the watch is broken and it would be $40 to fix. That was almost half what I paid for the watch, so I decided to hold off. A couple weeks later, I have to make a trip back to ATL. I figure, while I'm there I'll have my watch repair guy do the work. I take the watch in, and he asks me where I took the watch before him. Puzzled, I asked how he knew I had taken it somewhere else.
He tells me that the battery was missing, and - by the way - all it needed was a new one. All for less than $10. That was six months ago, and the watch is still running perfectly. If I could, I'd give Espling half a star for trying to rip me off. Not cool.
