Pawnbrokers lend money on items of value ranging from gold and diamond jewelry to musical instruments, televisions, tools, household items, etc. The loan amount is determined by the value of the collateral presented by the customer. There's no credit check or loan application, and the collateral is secured on our premises during the period of the loan.
Although most loan customers intend to redeem their valuables, we inevitably end up with unclaimed collateral items for public resale. Alan's Jewelry & Pawn's sales floor is a virtual department store filled with unclaimed pawn bargains! We offer complete sections dedicated to audio and video equipment, musical instruments and professional sound equipment, photography, computers, tools, lawn and heavy equipment, sporting goods, collectables and memorabilia. We offer such an array of unique, mostly one-of-a-kind items, that selling over the Internet is simply not practical.
Our staff knows musical instruments if you need help, we're here to help you. If you have questions, we're here to answer them. Whether you're buying or selling, Alan's staff is committed to friendly, knowledgeable service.

Great people to buy from. I've shopped there for years and bought a lot of great things from them. They have good tools and guns too. Very good prices

Sherrie was awesome! I recently was inherited a lot of old jewelry that needed repair. She was very knowledgeable and got answers for me on anything she wasn't sure of or second opinions to confirm what items were worth fixing or not. Some items that had sentimental value she even came up with great ideas of other ways to use still them. It was a wonderful experience to do business with a person who is so compassionate. Alan's Jewelry offers so much more than just buy/sell

I've been a loyal customer of Alan's Pawn shop for the Past two years, Ive purchased several items, Mac book pro, Air conditioner and Gaming system just to name a few. Todays visit was my LAST. I went in shopping for a dehumidifier, they had three to choose from side by side on the shelves. I opened the water reserves on 2 to chose which one was best for my needs.

I was NEVER asked if I needed any help. The big guy yells from behind the counter "You cant be taking apart anything!" I politely explained that my partner and I were simply trying to make a decision. Then the lady joins in on the "Don't be taking things apart!" she repeated this twice! Again, We were NEVER asked if we needed any help. Leadership was unprofessional, unhelpful and rude. I purchased my items from another local business and will continue to do so. I spend where I feel welcomed and treated with respect.

Emily in jewelry was wonderful. attentive, patient, and helpful beyond what I would normally expect in customer service. Both my husband and I left very satisfied with our jewelry, and our experience thanks to this young lady. Although I have been here dozens of times in the past, this is the first time I would consider leaving a review, and also the first 5 star experience here as well.

Everyone was very helpful. Had beautiful pieces-something for everyone. Kary made sure that my ring was sized correctly-which I thought I needed to size my ring larger than I actually needed. Their protection plan on special jewelry is great. Definitely will keep coming back and getting pieces here.

Alan's always takes care of my jewelry needs. Sherrie is always so helpful and pleasant. They have replaced batteries, repaired and sized. I have purchased prices from them and they are always upfront and honest. They also clean without charge. Even if they didn't sell or repair it. I highly recommend!

Great service, fair prices. I have been there multiple times and I am always greeted by kind people who want to care for their customers. I have bought many different types of products at this establishment and I've always been impressed with the quality and value.

Alan's pawn has great customer service. Very kind employees and a beautiful selection of jewelry. My ring had gotten damaged and was almost 2 & 1/2 sizes too big. Alan's promised to have it fixed within to full weeks, it only took them a week to have a ready! It's perfect and you can't tell it was ever worked on! I'll be getting more from them soon!

I love the experience and environment here. Great staff and stuff. I always check Alan Jewelry and Pawn for what I want before going to other places. I have brought a few items here, a JBC speaker that works like new and jewelry that I love for the best prices. Thank you guys for all your hard work.

It was a great! Experience. They treated me great and gave me a great deal on movies. Something that is precious to me and didn't want to sell them. They knew that this meant alot to me. More than just money but, what they meant to me. Thank you Jacob for taking the time to help me out. I really appreciate it. Alan's in Cherokee, N. C.

I had no idea what I was doing. Totally lost. I went to a few other places in the Asheville area and left empty handed and somewhat overlooked. I didn't expect much from Alan's thinking it was a pawn shop but it had good reviews so I decided to check it out. Don't let the name fool you, this place is a beautiful, legitimate jewelry store with knowledgeable staff. Emily was so great and personable and patient with me.

She walked me through step by step giving me so much information. I am forever grateful I stopped in there and for her sweet personality being who helped me. I don't know if anyone will ever see this but I promise you this place doesn't disappoint. I just got engaged 3 days ago and had I stopped at the name I may still be lost and putting off asking the love of my life to marry me.

Lowballs the actual f*** out of you! Went in looking to sell a $400 pair of diamond earrings ($400 is what i paid at a established jewelry store ) had them looked at by a few ppl in the area & all confirmed & tested. They OFFERED $65 for them along with a silver bracelet. like I get you need to make profit but that's bs. Also had them look at a basically new iPhone 5s, it is a 5s ofc but a piece of technology that can do most things the new iPhones can. they offered $20. I pay more for MEALS than that.

Here's the problem with this pawn shop, it's shady, like really shady. They love to tell people one thing and then do another. Sales person told you they'll let you return something if you don't like it? Management says it was a misunderstanding and they don't do refunds. They told you that you can cancel a purchase on layaway and get your money back?

No cancellations and no money back. I use to shop here frequently, however their shady and generally awful business practices have made it too much of a waste of money. I can't tell people to stay far enough away from this horrible horrible place.

Worst experience ever! Went to go sell a MacBook Pro and the employee we were talking to was rude and unable to do anything we asked. I came in and knew what I was talking about and he was clueless. It's a pawn shop and they would not even budge on pricing. I will not be back.

I never shop at a big box store when I can get the same great products at Alan's and always save my hard earned money! Great and honest staff! I would recommend all of Alan's locations as I have personally shopped at the Patton Ave., Tunnel Rd., and the Cherokee locations! I LOVE ALAN'S PAWN!

I came in to look at guitars, though I don't know much about them, the sales guy told me I could buy one, bring home to show my brother, and return within 30 days if I didn't like it. When I came back a couple weeks later to return the guitar, they started telling me they don't do refunds and that I can either get store credit or 50% of what I paid for it cash.

I explained that I was up front with my sales guy that I might have to bring this back, that I wouldn't have been interested in purchasing if I knew I couldn't get a refund. They were unhelpful to say the least. Shop or pawn here with caution, they're just as shady as you'd expect.

We brought in two valuable guitars and the guy did his best to make up reasons they were not worth much. They offered $250 on one and $300 on the other. We left and went straight to Guitars Center and they told us how special each one was and paid $1200 for one $1500 for the other. Don't let Alan's scam you out of your valuables.

The Cherokee store is the worst. The manager is not friendly at all and the night shift girl will not do a loan if you have more than two items. I was very disappointed when i went in on october 20th during the night as i was visiting the casino. I took six pieces of jewelry in to pawn. The blonde girl told me that I would have to come back the following morning after 9 am, because she did not have time to do more than two pieces.

This is a "24" hr pawn shop. So if you turn people away what makes you think that i will be back. I will just take my business to plaza pawn. This is not the first time i have been in the cherokee store and it looks a mess. It used to look very elegant but now it is looking like a thrift store. There is tvs sitting in the floor, and everything just looks a mess. It is very cluttered.

Ripping people off, wasting people's time, and taking advantage of the desperate and misinformed. Even other shops owned by Alan, in town, are more reasonable. Anyone pleased with the economics of their transaction is either extremely desperate or oblivious to the value of things. Would you pay $700 for a warped pool cue? After an insultingly low ball offer for my items, the guy told me it was because the staff has bills to pay. Sorry, but that doesn't give you the right to rip off unsuspecting victims. Go anywhere else. These people truly are vultures.

Beware of this pawn shop. They look on eBay for pricing but will compare what the current bids are on items and not the final sales prices, and will also not compare apples for apples. They tried to low ball me on an item that on eBay didn't include the original box or manual like mine did and wasn't in the same condition and didn't include the same accessories as what I was offering to sell them. Unethical and unfair so I went somewhere else and got a much higher offer.

Greatest Salesman I have ever Met! We were struggling at Christmas time. We are raising our Grandson and just moved back from Ms. We had very little money and Our Grandson Christmas was a VERY BIG CONCERN for us. He wanted a tablet really bad! So I went into ALANS on Patton Ave. And met the most wonderful Person (Salesman) Ever He made my very NERVOUS EXPERIENCE GREAT!

He saw the look and almost tears in my eyed and gave me very kind Friendly words and made my EXPERIENCE AWESOME! He even gave my GRANDSON A KITE! WHAT A WONDERFUL CARING MAN! THANKS SO MUCH IVAN BLY

Just moved to North Carolina and needed some cash to deposit the house so stopped here to sale 1.30ct diamond ring with $5859 appraisal certificate and I was shocked with the price the kid offered, it was.$150,y es it was 150 US dollars, and the kid looked at me like I was a beggar hit rock bottom with immature attitude, at the same time in the jewelry room I saw an older man in a suits with a great attitude selling rings to his valued customers, no wonder this place is big, fancy looking and had many young folks walking around and joking when there were 2,3customers tried to make some cash to pay their bills

Who's in the mood to be PROFILED?!?! This is seriously the worst pawn shop in WNC. Not only do I agree with the other reviewers (about the astronomical prices) but every time I go into their Patton Ave location, in particular, I am followed around like I have a second head on my shoulder. I have on more than one occasion spoke to the manager about their over involved security officers only to be told "They are just doing their jobs".

I did not realize their job was to police food & beverages and stare a hole through the back of your head. Just tonight I visited this fine establishment. As soon as I entered the store I was asked by their assisted living security officer to "leave your coffee by the door". No big deal, I ran my coffee cup back to the car. When I re-entered the store I started to look through their electronics.

I was asked several times if I needed to see anything in the cases, this was the most enjoyable part of my visit. I found a tool box filled with bike tools and I decided to take a picture. I intended to show my brother the picture because he is looking for such tools. As soon as I took out my phone the security guard made a bee-line at me and signaled towards the counter.

A man, who I assume was a manager, came over and told me I could not take pictures. I grabbed my girlfriends son and told him "let's go". The manager seemed to be apologetic and sincere but the security guard stood there arms crossed staring me down. He was however kind enough to follow us as we left the store and watch us until we made it safely to our car.

I do not ever intend to visit this establishment again. With so many other pawnshops in the area there is no need to go to Alan's, unless you want to pay retail prices for used merchandise. I applaud Alan's for giving jobs to otherwise un-employable senior citizen security guards but there is a serious disconnect in how they treat their customers.

To bad there isn't a way to give them a 0 Pawn stores are for people in a bind, and the owners and workers study the signs and facial expressions to know just how bad off people are. They put a 7' giant at the door to intimidate you. Just look where the new store is "Cherokee" why? Because of desperate gamblers, poor people or people who have an addiction.

How convenient to be open 24 hours a day. I hope you enjoy that mansion built with addiction, theft and deceit. Some day the chickens will come home to roost, if " home" doesn't foreclose first.

They always have stuff but I rarely buy anything here. Still seems so over priced for being a pawn shop.

I seriously could not believe the prices here. One thing we were looking for was a ukulele. They had one (used)--but it was literally TWICE the price of the same instrument (new) on Amazon.com. Similarly, there were items on the shelf that still bore their original price tags, but Alan's had marked them up as much as $10! (We're not talking collectibles here; one of the things was a pasta maker!) We won't be back.

After sale customer service is the worst I've ever encountered- anywhere, anytime.
