Kevin Red Star was born on the Crow Indian Reservation in Lodge Grass, Montana. He was raised in a family that values art and culture, where he developed an early love of drawing and music. This exposure and encouragement sustained him during his years in grade school during the time when Crow students were denied association with their language and cultural heritage.

We discovered this gallery while looking for a restaurant in St. Pete. We were greeted by a very knowledgeable and friendly lady named Harriet, the owner. We purchased some Navajo, jewelry hand made by Arte Yellowhorse. The next morning my wife and I both decided to go back to Red Cloud, and purchase a necklace, a pendant, and matching earrings, also hand crafted by Arte Yellowhorse.
The owner has been there for 34 years and she is an artist and goes on trips to purchase indigenous art and jewelry directly from the artists & jewelers themselves. You can spend hours looking at paintings, carvings, jewelry and more.

Engaged owners who respect the artists who create their merchandise - knowledgeable and willing to share information without being pedantic or hovering. Genuine and engaged. It's a real treat to a visit this shop and a completely different experience from the rest of the flash/sham taking over downtown.
