Ed Spencer, jewelry designer and owner of Skylight Jewelers, has been creating custom jewelry in Boston for over 40 years. His original shop featured a skylight which was the inspiration for the business name. That shop was located on the top floor of the jewelers building, just around the corner from where the store is today. Although the store no longer has a view of the stars, if you look up from inside the showroom you might catch a glimpse of our jewelers working in the loft upstairs. Spencer's custom jewelry designs reflect his belief that jewelry is a personal statement about its wearer.

Spencer has been creating custom jewelry since 1972 when he graduated from Boston University with a degree in Comparative Religions. In 1974 he moved his shop out of his living room where he would meet with customers and founded Skylight Jewelers in the center of downtown Boston. This first shop was located on the top floor of the Jewelers Building, and the skylight that illuminated the workspace also inspired the name for the company. Over 40 years have passed and Skylight Jewelers is still in downtown Boston only a block away from its original location.

Skylight Jewelers specializes in custom engagement rings and wedding bands. We create each piece of jewelry by hand using ancient and modern techniques. That means any piece of jewelry you see can be customized to suite your taste. From hand carved wax models and lost wax casting, to CAD/CAM and 3D printing, we use a variety of techniques to custom design and create the perfect unique engagement ring for you. We work in a wide assortment of metals including rose gold, white gold, yellow gold, platinum, palladium and even stainless steel.
Skylight Jewelers has been creating custom designed jewelry for over 40 years. Our shop is also our studio, where we design and create our exquisite jewelry. 10/10 would highly recommend! I am from PA and I was searching locally, to no avail, to find the perfect engagement ring for my fiance. After getting ridiculously high quotes for mediocre products at the big chains, I turned to the internet where I saw an image of the ring I'd been searching for! That image was on Skylight Jewelers website, and after speaking with Ed Spencer, he hooked me up in a big way! An all around honest and good guy, Spencer helped me from over 300 miles away. The ring was PERFECT and she cannot stop looking at it. Thank you Spencer so much for everything!

I had Spencer create a very unique necklace for my wife, since I couldn't find anywhere online or stores that compare to the piece he made. She wears everyday. The workmanship was superb. Although I don't live in the city if I had any other work to be made I wouldn't trust anyone else. She has been wearing the necklace for 2 years now and she is very happy with it. Thank you Spencer.

I visited at a ton of places in Boston looking for a place that would help me design a custom engagement ring and found that most places that offer "custom" jewelry just offer pick-your-parts jewelry. On the other hand Spencer offers the real deal. He helped me design a unique and beautiful, well crafted ring from scratch and found me an extremely high quality diamond within my price range. My fiancee loves the ring and needless to say we'll be returning to him for our wedding bands.

My fiance and I had a wonderful experience with Spencer at skylight jewelers! His expertise and talent for custom jewelry is amazing.
