Needed a yellow gold ring sized up. Of course, I waited until the last minute to bring it in, but Polina saved the day! She was so kind and communicative and was able to have my ring resized in less than 24 hours. The price was super reasonable. Will definitely be back.

You might want to Avoid this shop if you're interested in selling your gold jewelry. A woman that looked at my gold bracelet fake tested it and said it was only 10 karat. She also under weighed it. I inherited the item and knew it to be quality 14k. I found an honest shop that confirmed it 14k and paid almost double. Maybe consider if buying or selling going elsewhere. A better shop is on Polk.

Thank you Polina for helping my fiance and I pick out a perfect antique emerald and diamond engagement ring! Polina was very knowledgeable and selected several great rings for us to choose from based on the parameters we were interested in, and helped us pick a new setting in yellow gold for the existing stones from the ring we chose. Her jeweler sized and put the new stones in the setting in a couple of weeks and we love the final product!

Replaced two of my watch batteries in about 5 minutes. Very efficient and much appreciated!

Went in to see any Opals they may have had. The guy said I had to make an appointment. This was on a Saturday which is a busy sales day and I was shocked that I needed to make appointment to see their wares. He handed me a card and said call to make an appointment. No way. What a weird situation. I returned card and said as much.

Brought in a watch to have the battery changed. The owner guy examined the watch and we agreed on a price. He said it will take about 10 mins so I waited in the store. 2 minutes later, he comes back with my watch with the crown broken off stating this is your problem, not the battery. Yes guy, makes perfect sense why the time stopped. Nice attempt at trying to BS your way out of admitting you didn't break it off while trying to change the battery. Avoid this place at all costs. Plenty of other honest and cheaper locations throughout the city.

Highly recommend Torgsyn! I have done business here over the last 15 years and have always had a pleasant experience. I had a friend recently ask me if I knew of a jeweler that could fix a bracelet that she unfortunately broke? Unfortunately after a number of years the clasping mechanism had become loose and fell off! I told her I think I did and took it to Torgsyn.

Within no more than 10 minutes after entering their place of business I had them (Polina) reattach a brand new clasp! It was minimal in co$t and I was extremely pleased with the service! I brought in a pile of jewelry that I had inherited for evaluation and Polina was incredibly thorough in helping me sort and understand it. Her knowledge of the history of American and European jewelry was astounding. She was also very kind, patient, professional and ethical and her price was very reasonable. On another note, the jewelry for sale in her shop was really beautiful and unique. If I was ever looking for something truly special, I would certainly go to Torgsyn.

One of the best jewelry stores in San Francisco for unique jewelry pieces. The pieces that you can find here are so rare and beautiful, that you won't be able to find them anywhere else. As a jewelry novice, it is quite daunting to sift through the mass of chain jewelry stores, dozens of pushy salespeople, and virtually identical merchandise. Torgsyn is a refreshing change from all of that. Polina is the absolute best and has, on numerous occasions, helped me pick out the perfect pieces to gift to my mother (a beautiful bracelet), grandmother (a brooch), and girlfriend (earrings).

We were on the hunt for some diamond stud earrings for my birthday (it was a big one, I won't say how big!) We went to Lang, Dianne's and some other jewellery stores in San Fran looking for the perfect thing. We were tired of schlepping all over town to hunt out antique fine jewelry and finding stores full of cheap baubles instead. We almost didn't go to Torgsyn's as it seemed a small store and I feared it would be more disappointment. I'm so glad that we stopped in!

The owners of the store are a charming older couple who said they have been there for 30 years. They know their stuff and will give you appraisals on anything you buy. The store is small, so has less selection than Lang. However, if you find what you are looking for, as we did, the prices are very competitive! I walked out with a sparkling pair of studs in a stunning crown-setting.

They gave me goosebumps the first time I tried them on and continue to make me smile daily. The owners were extremely sweet, not pushy at all. They happily showed us some of the other beauties they had in the cases even though they knew we weren't purchasing anything else that day. They also offered to call them if we were ever searching for anything in particular. I don't imagine their website is fully up to date, so if you're looking for something in particular, call them and ask them about it.

Ten years ago, my husband, John, was looking for very special jewelry to give to me on Christmas. It was his (and my) great fortune that he discovered Torgsyn, Polina and Alex. Initially, John reviewed the extensive gallery of photos of jewelry on their website and then called and made arrangements to visit the store in order to see the pieces of jewelry which were of interest to him.

Paulina at Torgsyn is amazing. She can help you find gorgeous antique jewelry for any special occasion, at an incredible price. My fiance and I went in looking for an engagement ring, and Paulina helped us find the PERFECT one! Since it was our first time shopping around, we weren't ready to purchase. No problem - she wasn't pushy at all, and held it for us for over a week while we made up our minds. Paulina gave us an amazing price, re-sized it, provided all the appraisal papers, and even gave us free jewelery cleaner to keep it looking sparkly.

After a week or two, I needed to find a way to keep the ring from turning around on my finger. Paulina sautered on two little platinum beads on the inner band to keep it from moving around. Again at no cost. This is a top-notch place and not to be missed if you're on the hunt for great jewelry.

This place is awesome. Polina knew what she was talking about and was super helpful. The jewelry that they have is not the run of the mill stuff that you can get from Kay Jewelers. They have incredible antique pieces that are one of kind. If you want something different, you should check out this place for sure.

I really wanted to like this place! I thought it only fitting to have my Slavic grandma's jewelry fixed and resized and cleaned up by a Russian jeweler. However, Torgsyn made it very obvious they were not interested in my business. I had an old watch and some rings of my grandma's that I wanted to get cleaned up and resized. I showed the woman at Torgsyn the watch, asked about getting it resized, and she said it was not possible -- something about the rubber in the band -- and I needed to buy a new band.

No offer to sell me said band, and no other suggestions. I left without even bringing out the rings for her to look at. (Side note, when I took the watch to another jewelry store down the street, the jeweler said it'd be no problem to resize it, and popped the band open right in front of me -- no rubber to be found, just regular old links. Whaa?) Maybe it was a bad day, or maybe they don't care about doing repairs because the bulk of their business is sales, but still -- I was in there for all of 30 seconds and they gave me reason to never come back. Sad!
