We went to Cecena's because the watch I gave my husband for retirement wouldn't set. I purchased it just before we moved and he did not have time to figure out how to set it before we left as it is a complicated, Citizen Eco Drive. After three moves, one year later, my husband attempted to set the watch but was unable to. We chose Cecena because they said they were a certified Citizen repair/dealer and would know how to set it.
My husband told them that it was a new watch and he was not sure what was wrong since he had never worn it. After two weeks they called and said the watch was repaired. It required new parts and would cost around $160 for the repair and the parts. When I asked, wouldn't it be covered under the warrantee? They said they did not know it was under warrantee - they never asked.
My husband's watch is distinctly marked on the back that it should not be opened except by an authorized Citizen Service Center or the warrantee would be voided. We called Citizen about the warrantee, only to find that Cecena was not an authorized Service Center; only an authorized dealer and they did not send my husband's watch in for repairs. Furthermore, Citizen said they do not sell parts for their watches to anyone other than Authorized Centers.
Which poses the question what kind of parts did Cecena replace in my husbands $900 watch and where did they come from?
Needless to say, two weeks after we got back the watch the back fell off. We took it back and Brought up all our concerns regarding them opening our watch in the first place when they are not authorized. They said they would send it to Citizen for repair, and pay to reinstate our warrantee. Well, several weeks later, they called to say it was ready.
They did not give us the one year Citizen warrantee that remained that they said they would do. They only gave me a little receipt with notations for a watertightness test done by who knows who. When I asked about the reinstatement of our warrantee, the owner said it was only warranted through them. Please do not go to this store. They are not to be trusted. We will be contacting the Better Business Bureau and perhaps a lawyer.
