Smith Klein Gallery SmithKlein Gallery is proud to be celebrating over 30 years of business and a second generation of ownership on Boulder's historic Pearl Street Mall. The gallery is owned and managed by Nathan Klein, who grew up in the business, and his wife, Ann Klein, who is the marketing and graphic designer for the gallery. The original founder, Deborah SmithKlein, Nathan's mother, started the gallery in order to express her passion for fine art. Nathan was only four when Deborah first opened the doors and has been surrounded with art and artists his whole life.

Amazing art; locally owned; great service. We have wandered into this shop many times and always see something that we love. They have a range of artwork to fit different budgets and styles. We appreciate the knowledge and approachability of all the staff and the owners, including Lize and Nathan. The owners know a lot about the artists, their background, and can share insights and tidbits into the artist's story and style. Great customer service; kind to kids and adults alike. Would highly recommend.

My sister loves going into art galleries, so when we have twin time, I accompany her and feel rather erudite for a moment. But I rarely go to a gallery so full of pieces that I can relate to. Smith Klein had me gaping every way I turned. Also, I tend to feel very intimidated by gallery folks because I'm way out of my depth without even looking at the price tags.

But my sister and I ended up talking to the two ladies running the gallery and had a delightful exchange that pretty much covered our life stories. It was a welcoming, accessible, and refreshing place for me to get to know Boulder a little better.

Thank you to this locally, family owned gem of a gallery for their assistance purchasing our first original piece of art. As first time art buyers walking into a gallery with intentions of purchasing can be intimidating and humbling. I've walked into numerous galleries before feeling ignored or utterly out of place. Not the case at Smith Klein. You and your staff were patient, knowledgeable and kind. Thank you!

Every time I visit the Pearl Street Mall, I come here. There are so many unique creations and sculptures from the area and from local sculptures. This is a great place to go if you are interested in art and other creations. I would highly suggest visiting this place if this interests you. Tip: I would NOT recommend bringing children here as the sculptures can be extremely pricy.

One of the few galleries left on Pearl Street. The contemporary art works included paintings, sculptures, wood work, jewelry. There is a selection for all. All price ranges for the budget minded or art collector. It was an enjoyable stop.

Since 2005 I have walked this gallery admiring the work but never purchased any art. Despite the fact that I never purchased any artwork over dozens of visits, Nathan and his staff always treated me kindly, welcomed me in and took time to educate me on the work. Over the past two years I finally had the opportunity to buy some work from the gallery and customer service has been fantastic. This is truly a class organization and the people are genuine and kind.

I recently contacted this gallery to purchase a piece. They accepted my offer, then sold the piece the next day without even notifying me. I purchase art and believe in buying from local artists, but not when a gallery won't honor their agreement. I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere for people and gallery owners with ethics and integrity.

This is a great gallery with some wonderful paintings and sculptures. Every piece of art here is unique and leaves much to interpretation. This is definitely a place where you could spend hours in, soaking in the many pieces. All these art pieces are also for sale, though, as a college student, the price tags did raise an eyebrow.

I must recommend this Gallery. The service and professionalism is second to none. When shopping here I noticed a ring by one of their artists. However I wanted it customised. They interfaced with the artist and we conducted business by email. The result was amazing. The artists displayed here a varied and collectible. This gallery is a collectors destination. Don't miss it.

I visited the gallery while wandering Boulder's fabulous Pearl St Mall. The work there is varied and significant. Not the least is a remarkable carved door at the back of the gallery. The woman I spoke to was helpful and delightful. A must see for anyone interested in art while they are in Boulder.

Was about to buy a painting here that I saw in Q's restaurant. I saw the piece on a Saturday night and called them right then and there because my girlfriend and I loved it. They were open, took my phone call, and I arranged a time on the following Monday to come in and pay for the painting after I got out of my Monday meetings. I was looking forward to it with great anticipation.

I changed my mind quickly after getting several phone calls over the following 48 hours of them asking me to come in. This was after I had told them Monday evening was the soonest I had available because my Sundays are sacred and I had back to back meetings on Mondays. Nothing pushes me away from a sale like nagging sales people. Too bad for the artist because I am an avid collector and would have done wonders endorsing him. Unfortunate for the gallery too as they would have had $8k of my money. Ease up people and you might make a sale.

Strolling through Boulder casually walking into Art Galleries and window shopping down Pearl Street. The Smith-Klein Gallery caught both our eyes and we decided to go in and take a look around. The layout really works here, the walls are covered with photographs, paintings, and water colors. Mixed throughout are unique sculptures that make you think, if I move money around in my accounts could I take this home today?

I give it a little thought, I admit to it. Some of the landscape paintings really caught our eye with the uses of vibrant colors and textures. The bonus for me was the jewelry offerings. I truly fell in love with some gorgeous metal twisty earrings that should have a place in my collection. One day I'll wear those and rock them like no other.

I hear the works here change often so I can keep coming back to a completely new experience. The owner of the shop was easy to talk to and was eager to share her love of the some of the artists she was showing. It's a pleasure to have an owner so in love with what she does, it makes the experience much better.

Smith-Klein is one of those wonderful galleries that inspire "ooohs and aaaahs" around every corner. Sculpture, jewelry, paintings and Zuni fetishes somehow mix and match in inviting, interesting and well-considered ways. They seem to select artists that tell a story. Animals with unusual expressions, street scenes that draw you in, stone sculptures that leave you staring.

There is whimsy here, but not the kind that maes you smile for a moment and then think "I'd NEVER put that in my house". It is whimsy with a mix of humor, curiosity and deep engagement with the subject that made me want to scrape up some money to take home a statue of a sweet turtle or a painting of a raven amongst cherry blossoms. Even if you are a person who gets bored in museums, come here to see what artists are doing that is edgy but accessible, sometimes adorable, sometimes serious but always interesting. PS, the jewelry is amazing. Bring your partner here to get a hint of what kinds of unique pieces strike their fancy.

The news last night reported a *family* used a stroller to hijack and steal a bronze sculpture from this gallery. Everyone from Grandma down to Junior was involved. People are crazy. Anyhow, Smith-Klein is a fav place to ogle art on the Pearl Street Mall. The collections frequently change and are always of the highest quality. Besides paintings, photographs, and sculptures, Smith-Klein has a great collection of art glass, one-of-a-kind jewelry, and an amazing collection on totems.

There are some great metal rabbit sculptures in the front of the store these days that I'd love to take home with me. I've seldom purchased original art, but the prices seem reasonable to me. I hope they get the sculpture back from the kleptomaniac family. Weirdos.
