My fiance and I bought my engagement ring from Larry at La Ron Jewelers. He took us through the whole process from beginning to end and he really earned our trust with his professionalism and experience. He knew that I was eager and was ready to pick the first diamond I saw but he listened carefully to what we wanted and made sure to find the right diamond for us, and even designed it to my liking. I'm and happy to be supporting a small business, and I know where my setting and diamond are from instead of a chain place like Zales or Kay.

You know your money is being well spent compared to places with preset rings. I love my engagement ring and the craftsmanship that went into it. I will be going back for more pieces in the future. I did my research before and met with 5 other jewelers in Chicago before landing on La Ron. It came highly recommended by my neighbors. My fiance and I are a young couple and have never needed a jeweler so I felt safe I'm my decision for picking La Ron.

Other jewelers seemed too aggressive to make the sale or to have our business and they didn't make the experience personal. If you are just starting out the process of looking for a jeweler, let me save you the hassle I went through. And if you do pick La Ron, I truly hope your experience is as positive as mine was.

My husband brought his ring to be resized at LaRon. He asked specifically if resizing his ring would affect the inscription, and was told it wouldn't. The inscription was barely traceable when returned, and after a lengthy conversation it would not be reinscribed without a fee. Very upsetting that something that means a lot was handled poorly, and then we have to pay extra to fix his carelessness. An apology that the ring was polished - not an apology for being incorrectly told that the engraving would not be lost - is unacceptable. A solution would be to re-engrave the ring without an added fee. I don't understand why this isn't being offered.

I contacted LaRon Jewelers about making my wedding ring smaller. I confirmed on the phone, then in person, that the ring could be resized without cutting or messing with the engraving. I got the ring back in about 10 mins. Sure, it was smaller, but I didn't notice until later that the engraving was so faint it's almost invisible. The resizing completely messed up with engraving.

I looked at the ring before I went into the shop and the engraving was perfectly visible. I called up the store and spoke with Bob Thompson, the same guy I dealt with during my visit. He denied any possibility that the resizing affected my ring's engraving, yet he never looked inside the ring at any point. So, the business messed up the engraving, denied they did it, then suggested I could pay them to fix it.

Not only were the services I asked for not provided, but they wanted me to pay them to fix their own error. If I could give this business a zero star rating I would but Google won't allow a review to be posted with less than 1 star. By default I must provide this business with 1 more star than it deserves.

I do not recommend Bob for any resizing or polishing. He ruined the engraving inside my husband's wedding ring, which was very important to both of us. He only offered for us to pay to replace it, after he was assuring the engraving would not be affected. Unbelievable! Sure, we can get it re-engraved somewhere but he was completely careless with something very important to us and would not offer a solution for his own mistake.

My family has been coming to LaRon for years so when it was my turn to get engaged, we knew that my rings (and my fiances) had to come from them. Bob is THE BEST. I am a psychotic bride and he was so patient with all of my emailing and designs I sent him until we settled on the absolute perfect ring + wedding band. I could not have dreamt up a prettier set, and it is all custom so there isn't one out there that is identical to what I have. He also did my fiances band and it came out exactly as we had pictured it. BOB IS THE BEST!

Laron Jewelers is the go to place. They have so many years experience and our super knowledgeable about diamonds jewelry.

Went to LaRon for engagement ring, wedding rings and wedding gift - thiasis my go-to for jewelry! If you are looking for an engagement ring, Bob is going to sit you down and make you go through diamond school, which is cool because after 30-45mins you can walk out of there and speak semi-intelligently about diamonds. He's always going to find you something within your budget, so be upfront with him. Turnaround time is usually very quick. This is a good place to go for all your jewelry needs!

Larry is an amazing guy to work with, I did a lot of research and I visited a lot of Diamond stores to design my Wife's 11th Anniversary Diamond Ring, and in the end I returned back to Larry. He is so trustworthy, and we felt we are dealing with a very good honest friend, when you visit Larry's Store you will feel like home. The ring came out AMAZING as my wife needed it designed, she fell in love with the ring, the design, the finish, and with the Diamond color and shine. Everything is Beautiful and Amazing. Definitely I will go back to Larry for the Diamond Band. I highly highly recommend Larry for anyone.

My mom has used Larry as her jeweler since before I was born. I worked with Laura to make my wedding band and engagement ring, and I couldn't possibly be happier with them! I wanted something specific and unique, and she was able to make a mock up on the computer based on my description, because I couldn't find any photos similar to what I wanted. The real thing turned out even better! They will be my jeweler forever.

Scared as hell to buy a ring. Walked in 8 months before I was sure and talked to Bob (recommended by a close friend). Bob talked with me as a "newbie" and walked me through the basics. No pressure and told me to come see him when I was ready.which I did and am VERY happy with the outcome. Bob and everyone at La Ron have always been very friendly, attentive, and not pushy. Highly recommend.

My family had been going to another jeweler in Jeweler's Row for generations, but my then boyfriend, now husband, was much more impressed with the customer service and straight-forward nature of La Ron. My engagement ring is beautiful and we choose to go back to La Ron for both of our wedding bands. We were very happy with them, though unfortunately the prongs around the diamonds on my wedding ring scratched my other fingers.

I took it back to La Ron twice to have them filed and buffed down, which they did for free. When that didn't help, I took my band back to have the diamonds completely reset. I didn't want a big change, so they charged me, frankly undercharged me, just for the small amount of extra gold for the new band. We'll be longtime customers for sure.

The team at La Ron worked with us to create the perfect engagement ring. Larry, Bob and Laura each provided outstanding service in a friendly manner with true expertise in their craft. Their honesty and realistic feedback was greatly appreciated in the design process that featured my fiancee's grandmother's diamond. Highest recommendation for customized design (including a VERY cool 3-D computer program), communication, personalized service and value.

We received an immediate call back from Larry after our initial inquiry and the professionalism continued every step of the way. The ring was completed ahead of schedule and it couldn't be more perfect. My fiancee loves it! I can't imagine that there is a better jeweler in Chicago for engagement rings. We plan to return for our wedding bands in 2016.

I recently had the pleasure of working with Larry on my engagement ring. As a first timer I was uncertain how the whole process would go. I was referred to Larry by a friend and I am so thankful for it. He made it so easy, seamless really. The rave reviews on Yelp are consistent with my experience. These guys know what they are doing. can fix anything, and can make anything. made a one of a kind necklace for my wife. personable, great prices, great service. It's the only jeweler I go to anymore. Prices are from low, all the way to high. it just depends on what you want.

Larry was exceptionally helpful with us picking out an engagement ring. The process helped us pick out the ring that was just right for my fiancee' (no pressure, no questions were side-stepped, selection was great). I recommend this jeweler hands down due to the quality, service, attention to detail and overall attentiveness to me ~ the customer! We will definitely become repetitive customer.

I went to La Ron partly because of the reviews on Yelp. I was in a pinch and needed a diamond ring to give my wife for our 25th Anniversary. After explaining what I wanted, they gave me an estimate and told me the ring could be ready in about a week. I told them I needed it in three days. Two days later they called and said the ring was ready for pick up. It was Perfect! It was also abot 10% less expensive than they had estimated. 5 Stars is not enough!

I couldn't have had a better experience than the one I had at La Ron. I needed a ring resized asap and they did it for me same day at a very reasonable price. Really nice staff, too: from the woman who answered the phone to the guy who worked on my ring. If I ever need similar work done again, I'm definitely going back. 6 stars. Thanks!

I was referred to Larry from two friends who were previous customers of LaRon. I think Larry is a very honest and genuine person and a very good jeweler. You can tell that he takes a lot of pride in his work and it shows in the finished product. Larry went out of his way to educate us on the stone we were buying and he tries to make you very comfortable through the entire process.

I would go out of my way to refer friends to Larry as I know he will look out for their best interest. In the jewelry business it seems as though you are only as good as your reputation and I feel Larry goes out of his way to do what is right to preserve his. Thank you for a job well done and we look forward to being a customer again soon.

Bob's rings are fantastic. We love the quality and price point. My ring had to be custom made and turned out great! Very large variety of styles. La Ron rocks!

I thought I got a great deal on my wife's engagement ring here. I was actually surprised at how good the price was. I paid about $6,500 for a 1.4 ct center stone. HOWEVER, a couple of months later I took the ring in to a different jeweler to have the stone tightened. When I handed it to this jeweler they gave me a blank stare and asked me what this was supposed to be.

I was very confused. She pulled out her magnefine glass and told me, "you know this is a CZ." My heart dropped to my stomach. She then pulled out a Gemologist's Diamond Authenticity Tester and sure enough, it lit up on her products but did not on my $6,500 CZ! The worst thing. if I go to the authorities or press charges it's a he said, she said situation.

Run away from La Ron Jewelers. They are thieves! If you've already purchased a product from La Ron, I suggest that you take it to get tested for authenticity at a reputable jewler. I should have taken their suggestion to mail my ring out of of the State to avoid paying sales tax as an indication that they were not upstanding citizens.

I had to get my engagement ring re-sized so I called a bunch of jewelers and received varying responses from price to timeline. I didn't want to give my ring to a stranger for an extended period of time so I wanted to find a place with same day service. Some places required a turnaround time of 1 week! No thanks! A friend recommended La Ron and I'm so glad she did!

They have an on-site goldsmith who could resize the ring in an hour M-F. They're located on Jeweler's Row and provided wonderful service! Ask for Larry or Martha. Highly recommend them!

***Originally written in response to a thread*** For my engagement ring my husb. went to a "Wabash jeweler" called "La Ron".I know.sounds totally ghetto, but it's SO not! He went to Cartier, Tiffany.all the "big-named" places knowing (inherently) that I loved the, filigreed, "Tacori"-style, but wanted to make it a little more personal. He brought in a couple of magazine ads, as well as some photos of some relief-work on the redstone 3-flat I had just bought (that he was helping me do rehab on).

They helped him determine a style for the engagement ring from these pictures to custom-make it (in platinum), then they talked about the engagement stone. My husb. wanted a bigger-cut, lower quality stone.they talked him out of it and into a smaller (1.3 CT) stone of higher-quality saying that, while not as "flashy" would hold it's value better. AND it was less expensive than the bigger stones he was looking at.

In the design it was important to my (now) husband to have other diamonds in the design that signified other months in our "pre-engagement" tenure: 6 very small ones for the time we were dating, one for each month we were dating during which he'd decided he wanted to marry me (2 bigger ones) and then "the" stone. All of those thoughtful designs meant SO much to me in the days after I said 'yes' that he explained the process to me.

We also went back there for our bands.custom, in platinum. I went back to La Ron a little over a year after our wedding to have diamonds re-set into a vintage band that I recovered from my grandmother's jewelery box after she'd passed (the stones were missing) to give back to my mother (intact - with new stones) for Mother's Day. It took 2 weeks, they charged me for the 10 small stones at $15 each, and then $30 for the setting and cleaning of the band! Plus, they have cleaned my wedding set twice for free (which they, apparently, will do each year for life if you buy from them)!

They have a very small selection of jewelery in their cases (I assume they do mostly custom business) but I have seen MANY beautiful pieces that are SO inexpensive relative to the mall jewelers. They have "filed" my "I like this" choices for me just in case he decides to buy me more jewelery someday. My husband has purchased "mall jewelery" for me a couple of times since we were married (for anniversaries or birthday) and I have since begged him "no more "mall" jewelery.it's a waste of money by comparison. I secretly hope he will read this!
