Minor repairs, such as watch battery replacement and band adjustments, are typically done while you wait. More intricate watch repairs are completed in house by our watchmaker. We have access to a large variety of watch and clock part supplies in-house as well as other suppliers throughout the United States and Europe.
Purchasing a diamond for the first time can sometimes be overwhelming, but our Gemologists are here to walk you through the diamond buying experience. Below is a consumer friendly guide to the 4C's, Cut, Color, Clarity and Carat weight. Diamond "cut" is often confused with a diamond's "shape, " such as round, marquise, oval, pear or princess cut.

From the moment i walked in the door, I felt i was in the right place! I brought a very unique and special watch that was passed down by my late father to be restored. Not only was i treated in a most professional manner, Gary took the time to listen to all my concerns and details about my watch. Just as they promised, they delivered a complete restoration. To my amazement and exceeding joy this watch is running again after 30 years! Thank you for bringing to life this special family heirloom!

I am really struggling with this review. I am so disappointed. I admit, part of it is my fault, as it usually is. My mother passed away a couple of months ago and left me an expensive butt ugly diamond ring. I wanted to take away the butt ugly from it and have it custom made. I looked at Van Sipma's reviews and length in business and decided to risk it. ( I had a VERY lukewarm reception there a few months before with the same ring but, no, I went back.
I showed the woman a picture of what I would like and she gave me a ball park price. OK. Little staggering, but OK.it is a custom. Or so I thought. I also needed an appraisal. Again, ballpark figure (really? not just a set price) Now the original ring had 6 sapphires and 10 baguettes that were being removed. When she asked if I wanted the 'scrap' to come off the bill, I said yes. PLEASE make sure you ask if 'scrap' includes the stones you turn in.
I didn't. She said they would call in a few days and off she sent me after she took my ring. When I got home I realized I had not gotten a receipt and I called. Oh, I didn't need one, they have my ring.um.ok? I got a text with the picture of my 'new' ring a couple days later. I was ecstatic. Just as I wanted. No butt, no ugly. She told me what the price was then called back and repriced it at the high end of the 'ballpark' figure because I have fat fingers (which I had at the shop when I went in) and the appraisal was also $50 more because of the size. OK, one stone, one band.why?
Be ready in 2 weeks. So, 3 weeks later I go get my ring. It's perfect! BUT, in the weeks that I waited I looked at their website to find out how long this process should take--2 weeks. I also found my 'custom' ring was from their website and sold by several dealers. I was heartbroken. I thought this was MY ring. But it's a done deal now, so just enjoy it.
When it came time to pay the woman was in a hurry because there was someone else in the store. 1 man. Looking at the showcase. 1. She came to me all frazzled and got me all frazzled and I didn't pay attention like I should have. My husband was there, too and he was all confused. The clerk obviously wanted us out. Rude! Anyway, she gave me the price and I was so flustered I had to ask again.
She was not happy with me at all. She put the appraisal in a bag, no review, just pop into a bag. Then she grabbed a little baggie, flashed it very quickly and said I had a $67 credit. Oh Hell to the NO! I must have heard that wrong. MUST HAVE! She told me I didn't need the bag with the paperwork because everything I needed was in the bag she gave me.
Time to review that receipt carefully when we get home. OH. my fault. no receipt, just an appraisal. Apparently 'scrap' includes your stones which are worthless to them, so, sorry about ya! Love the ring Hate the business ethics or lack there of this shop.

Absolutely wonderful customer service and skills in repair. My husband and I recently had our wedding rings resized and diamonds replaced. I also had a rope necklace repair and purchased a beautiful cross charm to compliment it. Our rings look brand new. Oh they cleaned them beautifully! Outstanding work! Thanks so much!

Big shout-out to the people at Van Sipma's! Very friendly and extremely helpful when my elderly mother needed her ring cut off. It required 2 cuts so it took quite awhile and I took that time to look at their beautiful jewelry designs. I would stop in again if I wanted to to purchase a special gift.

Van Sipma's is a great, family owned, jewelry shop. Everyone is very friendly and is willing to answer as many questions as you throw at them. They helped me pick out the perfect engagement ring for my fiance and they helped resize and preserve my father's old ring. Cannot say enough about the genuine customer service and quality of work/products. They impress me each time I am in. If you are considering a big box store, go here instead and support local businesses.

I have been going to Van Sipma's for a few years. I love dealing with Lynn. I was referred to her by a friend and cannot be happier. She has also helped or suggested items to other family members. I consider her my go to. I love a few pieces in the store and just purchased a diamond bracelet. Love it. Michele

When you are looking for quality and customer service in the Chicagoland Area, this store is delightful. Their attention to detail and care to get beautiful pieces for you and your family is refreshing. They have restrung several strings of pearls for me and done an exceptional job every time. Their happy attitude and awesome customer service located in downtown Homewood makes their family owned business a must visit for your next jewelry purchase.

I am so happy with my Van Sipma's wedding and engagement rings! I love talking about them and how helpful Van Sipma's was in the process. My engagement ring is a completely custom palladium and sapphire solitaire. My then-boyfriend and I worked with Ashley to design the ring. She gave great suggestions but also honored my preferences and style.
My wedding band is my grandmother's wedding ring. Van Sipma's resized it, replaced a diamond, and cleaned it to brand new. I'm so happy with how it looks and my grandma would be so proud of it. Finally, my husband got me my wedding gift here. It is a gorgeous vintage watch. Ashley helped him pick it out and it's clearly a high quality item. We love Van Sipma's! We will be buying here for years to come.

I just had a customized ring made from my mother's engagement ring. It's one of a kind and so very unique. I've also had other work done there. The staff at Van Sipma's not only was professional, knowledgeable and kind, they made me feel very special. They also had the box of kleenex ready for me when I went to pick up the ring and I was flooded with emotions. I can't thank them enough. I love my ring and I love all the other work they did for me. Thank you Van Sipma's.

I brought my wedding ring in because the diamond came out. The owner told me that the prong broke and that the diamond has a small chip in it. He showed me the chip under a microscope. They gave me a price and told me it will take 10-14 days all depending on when they get the new prong in. They tightened my other diamonds on the band too. I picked it up and it looks all clean and polished and beautiful.
It was 12.5 years old so it need this! It was bad looking and now looks so BEAUTIFUL! Great customer service, outstanding care for our Jewelry. I dropped my husband's band off so they could tighten the diamonds and clean it too. I should have that back in a day or so. Great service without the hassle of going downtown.

I've been a customer of Van Sipma Jewelers for almost 20 years now. The owners, Lynn and Gary, are two of the kindest people I've ever met and all of my favorite pieces have come from their store. I've always been extremely satisfied with their jewelry, so my husband and I decided to buy our wedding rings here even though we were living in Indianapolis at the time.
They were very patient as we sorted through and tried on all of the different options. They also helped us work within our budget, carefully explaining to us what our money was purchasing. It's nice to go into a jewelry store that doesn't have a sales person pressuring you into a purchase in order to make their commission. My engagement ring was formerly my mother-in-law's, but even though it wasn't purchased there, they commented on how beautiful it was, cleaned and sized it, and even offered advice on how I could clean and maintain it on my own.
A week after we ordered our rings, Lynn called to ask what we'd like engraved on the inside. Joe and I contemplated forever, but they were very patient with us while we decided. I live in North Carolina now, but I will continue to be a customer of Van Sipma jewelers.

I wouldnt even rate this place 1 star, but I have to in order to write a review. My boyfriend and I were walking downtown homewood and I happened to see this store. I wanted to take a look at what rings they had there. Honestly there was not much to look at. The lady that worked there did not even acknowledge us. She continued to talk to the customer in front of her.
She could have acknowledged us by atleast greeting us when we walked in the door. We were literally there for about five minutes. And not even a hi. Or i will be with you guys in a minute. Poor customer service. We didnt feel comfortable so decided to leave. I would NEVER go there again.

I walked into this store and looked in every case. The employee never acknowledged me at all. I would expect someone could at least ask me if I was looking for something. Every piece of jewelry I own is better quality than what I saw in the store that day, but it is the lack of customer service that will prevent me from going back.

I have bought several pieces of jewelry from this jeweler, and I have been more than satisfied with the quality and customer service. The store is family owned and the workmanship is detailed and beautiful. The owners will work with you to ensure you get exactly what you are looking for, even if it is something they have to make. I would recommend this jewelry store to everyone!
