Services
Philip Kasson established Kasson Jewelers in 1949 in Bridgeport Connecticut, after attending watchmaking training in New Jersey after serving in WWII. In 1960 the store was moved from downtown Bridgeport to the Black Rock section of Bridgeport. Tragically Philip Kasson died in 1963 and his widow Miriam, was left with a decision as she had two sons aged 15 and 10 to care for.

Our jewelry store in Connecticut has 5 experienced goldsmiths specializing in personalized jewelry with custom design. The personalized jewelry discussion begins, and custom design ideas are refined. The way we start a custom jewelry design process is through communication with the customer. We ask many questions about likes and dislikes, colors they wear, metal preference, whether the piece will be for every day or special occassions, etc. We encourage our customers to bring photos that represent their thoughts, so that we get an idea of their style preference.
Seeking a medium for her creativity, Toronto-born artist Anne Sportun began making jewellery as a teenager. She deferred her archeological studies to enroll in a jewellery arts programme where she acquired her formal goldsmithing skills. Anne founded her brand with the opening of her first atelier in the late 1980's. This was the beginning of a prolific career which continues to evolve.

I have lived in the Fairfield/Westport area most of my life, and I have never felt that anyone "looked down" upon me until I walked into Kassins. My mother is a regular customer there, and highly recommended them to me. I brought in a pearl necklace in to be fixed that I had purchased from United House Wrecking that had a broken clasp. I was greeted by a gentleman with grey hair (who according to my mother is not the owner, but an employee), and he asked me what he could help me with.
I explained the situation and only asked if they could fix the broken clasp. Then gentleman then decided to give me his full opinion on the necklace which was NOT asked for-that he determined that the necklace was "fake" and then asked me if I still wanted the clasp fixed given the information. I was made to feel very awkward by the tone he used, and I felt like I had to justify why I still wanted this supposed "fake" necklace fixed (the reason was because I really liked it regardless of how valuable it was). Needless to say, I felt very discriminated against-that this gentleman made me feel that I had no money, that I was looked down upon for liking a fake necklace and still wanting it fixed, even though I had just previously stated that my mother was a regular customer.
The actual necklace clasp was fixed very well, and I can finally wear it. The work was excellent, but I never want to return based on how that employee made me feel as a customer. I'll bring my business elsewhere.

I was in Southport a few weeks ago and wanted to check out Kasson Jewelers. I had passed many times but never checked out the store. Upon entering a dark curly haired woman approached me and asked if I needed assistance and I said I was just browsing and explained how I had passed the store many times and decided today I would check it out (we had just had lunch at Horseshoe Bar and I had time to browse).
The store was not busy, but there were a few women chatting up the help, seemed more social conversation than business. As I browsed the dark haired woman approached and explained to me which was the "high end" section items in the store and directed me to the "sale" display and "under 500.00 display case" stating I would be more interested in those displays.
Well I just looked at her, I was quite taken aback at her sales approach, thanked her for her time and promptly left the store. I told my husband I was very insulted by this and how the heck did this woman have the nerve to assume I needed to see the sale or under 500.00 case. Believe me in my 60 years on the planet I have never left a jewelers so annoyed in my life and I have been in many and have some lovely pieces to show for it.
Just wanted to let management know, I will not be purchasing my anniversary gift from Kasson Jewelers and would not recommend this store and its sales services to anyone else. Remember when you assume, you make an ass out of u and me. If I didn't think I could have afforded your jewelry, I never would have entered your store. Karen - Shelton CT.

I had a very disappointing experience at Kassons. I brought a watch in with a chip to get a new casing and was told I would get a call with an estimate before anything was done. Weeks later I got a call telling me the price to fix the watch was $225. I explained that the watch was not that expensive so I didn't want to pay that amount to fix it.
I was than told by Kassons that a mistake was made and the watch was already fixed and they would lower the price to $180. I was disappointed that I wasn't told about this mistake up front before discussing prices. I said I would come in and talk about it when I picked up the watch as this was still more than I was planning on spending. When I went in to the shop I explained that I never planned on spending more than $100 and would have told them not to fix it if it was over that cost.
They full admitted it was there mistake to not call with the estimate but said the lowest they could go was $140 or they could take the new case off of the watch and return it to me with the chip. I felt that I was not being respected in the way it was being handled and not valued as a customer for a mistake that was made. I asked Kasson's to then return the watch to it's broken state if that's what they had to do. Weeks later I was called and told my watch was returned back to it's original state.

My fiance and I couldn't be more pleased to be Kasson customers. This is a family that will work tirelessly to get their product just right. They are an honest, kind family and I feel so lucky that they are part of my engagement ring's story. Mike Kasson worked tirelessly to design a highly-detailed ring for us. His communication was quick, professional, and thorough.

Best customer service, knowledge and jewels in Fairfield County! Stop in for an estimate, check out their estate jewelry sale, get something fixed or appraised - or best yet - jewels custom made at comparable prices! You can tell it's family owned because every time you walk in - you feel like family and Kasson is someone you can trust! (Not to mention the free jewelry cleaning and my kids LOVE the treats!)

Decided to get my wife a ring for our 25th, and didn't decide for sure until one week out. I emailed Alan and got the ball rolling, then came in and met him, and he put me in the good hands of Ali who worked with me to design a perfect ring Within my budget. She loves it. So glad to now have a great local jeweler!

Very happy with my two experiences with the Kasson family and jewelers. The whole team was great to work with. I felt very welcome and was confident my valuables were taken care of. My first project was re-sizing a family heirloom diamond ring. My ring was cleaned, shined-up and resized perfectly. My second project was more substantial. I brought in my wedding ring from 1986 and asked to have it reset/restyled to bring it into the 21st century. Michael Kasson spend a significant amount of time with me developing a concept and drawing it out. I'm very happy with the result and I have received many compliments.

The way jewelry stores should be. Popped in here with a box of old jewelry from my family's estate. This is a family operation and boy does it show. They took excellent care of me and treated me like one of their own. They spent over half an hour carefully examining my box of jewelry, telling me the history behind the pieces and giving me detailed appraisal prices.
In the end, when there were several pieces I wanted to sell, they gave me top value and cut me a check right on the spot. Overall, an excellent place and I plan on doing business here again.

Fantastic service and beautiful jewelry! This is why boutique jewelers are the best -- thoughtful, informative and sincere -- this was the best experience I've had in a store in a long time. It's family owned - you feel right at home here! The estate jewelry selection is gorgeous and very well priced. The contemporary pieces are gorgeous too. The detailed explanation in regards to clarity, cut.so helpful! Not stuffy or pushy - this is now my go to jewelry spot in CT. Highly recommended!
