Our Four C's of Diamonds guide can help you decide on the most important factors when shopping for a diamond. The word carat derives from the word carob, a Mediterranean seed, which has an extremely consistent weight for measuring. The greater the carat weight, the rarer, and more valuable the diamond becomes.
Some people want to buy the biggest diamond possible. Is this always the right choice? The larger the diamond, chances are the more inclusions it likely has, and because it's larger, these inclusions are typically even more visible than on a smaller diamond. But most importantly, if the diamond cut isn't proportioned correctly, it won't return the maximum amount of light through the top of the diamond. This illustrates that no matter how large the diamond, its cut and proportions determine how brilliant the diamond really is.
Solitaire settings are great if you have a stunning singular stone that has been passed down through the generations as an heirloom, many choose to display it in a classic Solitaire setting. This setting generally allows for the maximum amount of sparkle by allowing light to pass in through the bottom sections of the ring.
Garnet comes from the Latin word granatus, meaning grain. Garnet is mostly mined in Southeast Asia, Brazil, and Africa. Occurring in every color except blue, the garnet is a versatile stone, appropriate for a multitude of applications and occasions. Amethyst is a member of the quartz family, and ranges in color from light to deep purple.
There are many different metal types that are used to make jewelry, and we've listed some popular metal types below. White Gold is a form of gold with a distinct pale white or cream color; its an alloy of gold and at least one white metal; either nickel, manganese, or palladium, which typically makes up apprx 10% of the alloy.

Wow. Amazingly friendly, helpful and professional. I'm a summer visitor to McMinnville & needed a watch band repaired. I stopped in to have a watch band fixed and ended up getting my rings cleaned plus purchasing a new pendant & chain. These ladies make you feel like old friends. I highly recommend them for any purchase or repair.

I was very concerned to have a major repair done on my wedding ring. I had to have my original diamond repaired and a new diamond placed in my wedding ring setting. Staff spent time explaining everything to me and gave me multiple price options. The staff also called me several times to update me. I could not be happier with the repairs and the service.

I have always been paranoid about getting work on my wedding ring! Every single person I worked with was kind, patient and detailed. They called me on a regular basis to give me updates on the repairs. I am so impressed with the work and the price was far less than I had been quoted by anyone else. Not only did the replace my original diamond they set my original diamond which had been damaged in s pendant so I can still wear it. I am overwhelmed at the service, quality of work and price!

The people at T&MC absolutely go out of their way to meet their customers needs. My last major purchase from them was an astounding custom-made pendant that exceeded all my expectations (and those of the intended recipient) despite hurricanes, and floods.long story) I do not buy jewelry ANYWHERE else. Their excellent craftsmanship and service is without comparison.

Over the past 15 years I have visited the store a dozen or so times; never to buy jewelry, but to have something repaired or altered. Frequently I have been assisted by Dave, who is always extremely knowledgeable, helpful, courteous, and interested. Though I no longer live minutes from this shop, when I have anything in need of a jewelers attention I drive the hour to take it here because I know I can trust them, that they will be reasonable in their charges, and that the work done will be of quality.

I went in to see if they could change a watch battery for me. The lady said yes and that "it costs between $10 and $25." I said OK and they changed it for me, then charged me only $10. This tells me they are honest as they could have charged me more and I would have already consented to it. I much appreciate this. And they did it quickly for me on the spot.

Three suggestions: 1) Insist on getting quotes or estimates for jewelry repair IN WRITING. That way they'll have a harder time jacking the price by 25% on you. The $120 charge to put two links back into my bracelet mysteriously rose to $150. Dave told me the original quote was $140 (it wasn't). I didn't want to make a scene or call him a liar, so I paid up and left.
But I won't be going back, and that's a fact. 2) Ask for a claim check if you leave jewelry for repair. (they won't have one for you, but ask anyway.) Sure, Dave told me the 'operate on the honor system'. but see item 1 above. 3) Ask if the repair will be done on the premises (I thought a place with a certified jeweler - per their web site -- would be able to re-add 2 links to my bracelet. Turns out they shopped it out to someone else -- surprising for a jeweler that claims to build custom jewelry on their web site's repairs page.) And what would I have done if that bracelet had been lost in transit? With no claim check, how could I even prove I'd brought my jewelry to them in the first place? See item 2 above.

The lady helping me spent a whole hour showing me things in the shop. Even though it was the end of the day, she still was very energetic and interested in helping me find what I wanted. She was able to help me isolate options both in my price range and at the standard I was looking for. I'll be going back for my next jewelry shopping trip!
