All around worst jeweler experience i've ever had and i've had many different experiences, as i come from a jewelry collector family so i know a good jewelry store/jeweler when i see one. comforting, suits your needs, makes you feel like you're being taken care of, you're getting the customer service that you're paying for, and (i shouldn't have to say this but apparently now i do) not feel like a bother. the experience here was a 1/10. i felt out of place throughout the entire 5 minutes i spent in there and i rarely feel that way. the people working didn't seem to have ever worked in customer service before and were not at all friendly. seemed like a cater to my company kind of thing going on. but people will always remember how you treat them, regardless of what jewelry you offer. when you put in just a little effort it can be a difference between a loyal customer and no customer.

I had an awful experience with Denney Jewelers. I am originally from Arizona and my wedding rings were hand made from a small Native American jeweler that unfortunately closed down due to COVID. If they were still open, I would have taken them back to Arizona and never taken my rings to Denney. My rings are sterling silver with sugilite inlay and a cubic zirconia stone.
They are essentially one of a kind. It started when I hit my engagement ring on a metal pot and the damaged the prongs holding the CZ. Then one of the sugilite pieces fell out but I was able to put in back in. I took my rings to Denney to have the prongs straightened and asked that they also secure all the sugilite pieces to make sure they do not fall out.
I was told it would take 2 weeks and they made it seem like it was a super easy fix. It was even implied that the rings would be fixed in store, but instead were shipped out to a 3rd party to be fixed, (I was never informed as to whom the 3rd party was). Two weeks come and go and I still have no update, so I called during the 3rd week. I was told that they were having trouble securing the sugilite and that when they would put a piece in, another would fall out.
That was a huge red flag and started to get a gut feeling that something was wrong. I dropped my rings off in late September and didn't see them again until the middle of December-with all the sugilite removed from my rings and replaced with something that looked like melted crayon. Did they think I wouldn't notice the huge difference in my rings?
They completely changed the layout in my wedding band as well. I talked to Cathy and showed her what my rings were supposed to look like and so she sent them back to the 3rd party that ruined my rings. It then took several more weeks and the 3rd party had to order sugilite to "fix" my rings. I had to keep calling Denney Jewelers to get updates, which most of the time I was told, "they're not done yet and I don't know when they will be." Finally in the middle of February, (almost 5 months after I originally dropped them off), I got my rings back and I was told by Cathy that they "looked much better" than how they did in December.
While that was true, they still look like poorly made knock offs of my original rings at best. They tried to recreate the original inlay layout on the band but it just didn't come out well. They also painted some purple enamel over the inlay on the engagement ring, but I don't think there's sugilite underneath. The inlays for the engagement ring and wedding band don't match either.
They also managed to chip the bottom of my CZ stone when they fixed the prongs. Overall, I am very unhappy about this whole experience and wish I never took my rings to Denney. I will have to find someone back in Arizona and pay them to fix the rings that Denney ruined. The only good thing is that I was not charged for any of this.

The staff is amazing! I know it sounds corny, but they made me feel like family, and were really excited, and happy for me, and the special occasion! I purchased an engagement ring, and could not be happier with their customer service, quality, or price. I recommend anyone who is in the fine jewelry market to shop Denney first.

I wouldn't recommend this jeweler. I seemed to be a inconvenience for these people. I went to take in some 14k and 18k rings into maybe selling. The price they wanted for all of them was very low. But that's now why I am giving them a low review. The reason is in the manner it was handled. The gentleman was basically throwing my rings around. He seemed annoyed that I was there.
I have been buying and selling jewelry for 6 years and also own a business. And I have to say that this experience motivates me to treat my customers even better. I would never do business with them again.

I took my watch off my wrist and and left it with them for a new battery two and a half months ago. After being put off repeatedly, I went and picked it up today. I was given a plastic box of parts! Utterly ridiculous! No apology. These guys are despicable! They deserve a big zero, but this review site won't go that low. Deal with them at your own risk.

First of all, I am not related to this business although I do have a long family history with them. My father bought my mothers engagement ring at the original Denney Jewelers back in 1970 when it was the present owners mothers and fathers shop in Jacksonville. Over the years I remember going into the shop with my parents and them having work done on my mothers ring, adding diamonds on to it for this occasion and that.
Fast forward all these years, and my mother just passed away over a year ago and I inherited my mothers ring. Although it was beautiful, it had become a massive art piece over the years that was not my taste and something I would wear as it was so I decided to take it in to Denney Jewelers to have it made into several separate pieces. I chose them because I knew them, trusted them and they knew my mothers ring and had done the previous work on it.
I went over in detail several times with Kathy what I wanted done and month after month I would check in on the progress but they had made none. Month after month this continued until today after THEY HAD MY JEWELRY FOR OVER A YEAR AND DID ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to it, I took it all back and told them I would go elsewhere. I am so extremely dissapointed in them.
I don't know if they don't need the business, or are too busy and thought since they knew me my business could wait. If they treated me this way though and I considered my family and I lifelong friends, it makes me wonder how they are treating their other customers.

Denney Jewelers recently used their laser machine to fix my eye glasses. They said it would take about 45 minutes. I decided to wait. It was a bit beyond the 45 minutes when they told me that they usually had two employees who could do the repair, but that only one was working since it was a Saturday. They said they would only charge me 1/2 price.
A little while later when they brought my repaired eye glasses, they refused to take any payment at all since it had taken Longer. They certainly didn't have to give me a free repair, but it was a very nice thing to do.

Denney Jewelers is an excellent place everyone was friendly and knowledgeable about the products. When I walked in I didn't know much about Diamonds or jewelry but Doug took the time to educate me. I work in sales and so I know what good customer service should look like but at Denney Jewelers the service was excellent.

We gave one of my wife's Rolex watches to our daughter-in-law for Christmas. Complete with all the thing's Rolex gives you when you buy a watch. Correct outer box, inner box, papers, booklet, etc. While I was looking at a watch for my son we asked the jeweler to remove 2 links from the Rolex. We were certainly ready to pay the appropriate fee for the quick service.
The salesperson came back and told us the watch was fake. You can imagine the embarrassment we felt in front of our family. We own several Rolex's between the two of us. They have all been purchased from certified dealers. Very disturbing. Second experience I have had at this establishment that was "odd". I certainly will never return. I really wish a zero star rating was available.

Overall I did not have an experience that I would recommend to others or that would motivate me to go back, mainly due to poor customer service. I worked with Cathy primarily, and I simply felt like I was an inconvenience both on the phone and in person during the initial visit. The piece of jewelry that I had designed was also completed incorrectly with the wrong font despite being clearly written on the plans and receipt.

If I could give them negative stars I would. Their customer service is nonexistent. They lie about times they tell you for custom jobs and make no attempt to apologize for their rudeness or negligence. My husband bought all of my jewelry here and that's the last-clearly Denny's doesn't care about customer satisfaction and repeat business.

I'm in the process of shopping for an engagement ring. I've been to Denney's twice. On the first visit the salesman was nice and helpful. I came back a couple weeks later to try on a ring that I had liked. The saleswoman was abrupt, rude, and handled loose diamonds with her hands (the fingerprints on the diamond make it appear more dull).
She also didn't appear very knowledgeable about diamonds, as when I asked her a question about the diamond cut quality, she did not know what that meant. On both occasions, my fiance and I were the only ones in the store wearing masks. The employees do not have masks, and do not even offer to put on masks when working in close proximity to customers with masks.

Extremely disappointed. My grandmother and I walked into Denney jewelers 12/10 to get a very important ring resized. This place was recommended by Jones jewelers because they would be able to properly resize the ring without damaging it. While standing inside for a few minutes, a very loud, offensive conversation took place with out regard for the other customers or ourselves. We were also never acknowledged. I had high hopes for this establishment and I expected more out of a place of business. If I could give this place zero stars I would.

My fiance and I went to Denney jewelrs on January 9th, we ordered a 2,000 dollar custom ring. We were told it would be 2 weeks to make the ring, after 8 weeks, multiple phone calls, and visits to the store the ring finally came in. It was the wrong size, so they had to remake it and told us 2 more weeks. While we waited we ordered my fiances ring, the owner if the store measured 2 times to make sure the size was right.
The beginning of March is when my ring should have come back, after several more calls and visits to the store they called today march 29th to tell us that the rings were lost in the mail and they have no idea how long it will take to correct, and they told us that my fiances ring that was supposed to be a size 5 and 3/4 was ordered as a size 10, when we asked why they couldn't give us a reason.
So now we have paid over 3,000 dollars and have nothing to show for it with no time frame of when this will be corrected. We are beginning to think that Denney's jewelry has simply stolen 3,000 dollars from us, and are also starting to feel as if this is because my fiance and I are homosexual. I never expected Denney's to be such a poor establishment, my advice if you are in the market for fine jewelry and would like to be treated like an actual customer I would recommend going anywhere else.
For the first 2 months they didn't even have our order in the computer. When we come in the store to check the status of our order they see us coming and hide. This business has a lot to work on.

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! Took a pendent in to be fixed. I was told it would be done in 2 weeks.fast forward to 2 months later the pendent is ruined! This was a gift that I cherished and wore daily and now I cannot find another one. We have spent thousands of dollars here and always try to patronize local business. I have never been so disrespected and mistreated by a business owner.
My husband and I walked out of the store with Shane Denney (the owner) shouting at us that we have never done business with them! This was in front of customers that were shopping. He clearly did not check his records because we have been customers for over 6 years. I WILL NEVER COME BACK AND HIGHLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU TAKE YOUR MONEY ELSEWHERE. So disgraceful!

Professional and friendly team who work to ensure satisfaction. Excellent designers, crafts-people and, importantly, a local, family-centric business. I have traded here, almost exclusively, for over ten years and always appreciate their attention to detail, fairness and sense of urgency. If they don't have something you have in mind, they'll work to get it or design a custom piece of jewelry.

My fiance and I are getting married in July. We ordered a wedding band from Denney's mid-April. They let us know that it would be 6-8 weeks for the order to come in and that they would call us when it came in. The first week of June rolled around, and we hadn't heard from them. I was on that side of town so I decided to go in and check on it.
They are so friendly inside that store, I'll give them that. I got there around 7:15 p.m. and did not leave until they closed that night at 8 p.m. They were able to tell me that my ring was delivered on May 25th-which was great! But they could not FIND the ring ANYWHERE. They were so apologetic and beside themselves that they could not find the order.
They assured me that they would call me the next day to let me know the status of the lost ring. They did call me around 11 a.m. the next day to let me know that they had RUSH ordered a new ring for me since they could still not find the original order. So, about 2 weeks go by and I get a phone call on June 23rd letting me know that the rush order had come in.
Which is great, still plenty of time before my wedding, right? So I go in that same day after work, which is not on my way home, by the way. I get there, they find the new ordered ring. it's not the ring I picked out. While it is similar to the ring I picked out, it is not the same price, nor does it sit nicely with my engagement ring setting. So, they rush order ANOTHER new ring.
They then called me today to let me know that the ring is in, so I took an early lunch break to go get my ring, because at this point, I'm kind of stressing about this whole thing and I really want to just get this taken care of so I can focus on tying up the lose ends of my wedding. I get there, and this ring still isn't right. A discount was asked for on the 4th ring that they are having to order for me and they refused.
To me, that is just ridiculous. It was their fault that they lost the first order, that we will never know was right or not anyway. They may be super friendly, but they are unreliable. Kathy blamed ME for not liking the rings that they showed me, when in reality the very first one that they rushed ordered for me was not even the correct style number.

Their selection is some of the best in town in terms of quantity, although lately they have been bringing in low quality, cheap junk. However, apparently they have all of the business that they need. I have been trying to purchase an item over the phone, and cannot get anyone to call me back. I have tried 3 times over the past week. Every time I call, they take my name and number down, but no one ever calls me back. I will take my business and my money where it is appreciated.

Outstanding and absolutely dependable staff. Hierloom level Mont Blanc pens with pricing that competes witht the store at Bloomingdales on Michigan Avenue. The diamonds are as good as the one Cartier rates, as I have persaonlly compared their ratings and quality. Their raison d etre are their gems for which no jeweler in this side of Chicago can compete. Dozens of type and hundreds of stones. Go in and tell Brian or Matt hello and get a free coffee and snack! Enjoy the quality and convivvialty and then listen to their dad Shane on his drums in his Blues band
