J. Thomas Jewelers was founded in 1995 by Tom Costigan and is family owned and operated. This is the 13th jewelry design award for our store. In 2019 J. Thomas Jewelers was awarded the Top Rated Local. The store offers an excellent selection of premium diamonds and we are proud to feature the largest selection of engagement rings in Oakland County.
Some people want to buy the biggest diamond possible. Is this always the right choice? The larger the diamond, chances are the more inclusions it likely has, and because it's larger, these inclusions are typically even more visible than on a smaller diamond. But most importantly, if the diamond cut isn't proportioned correctly, it won't return the maximum amount of light through the top of the diamond. This illustrates that no matter how large the diamond, its cut and proportions determine how brilliant the diamond really is.
Solitaire settings are great if you have a stunning singular stone that has been passed down through the generations as an heirloom, many choose to display it in a classic Solitaire setting. This setting generally allows for the maximum amount of sparkle by allowing light to pass in through the bottom sections of the ring.
Garnet comes from the Latin word granatus, meaning grain. Garnet is mostly mined in Southeast Asia, Brazil, and Africa. Occurring in every color except blue, the garnet is a versatile stone, appropriate for a multitude of applications and occasions. Amethyst is a member of the quartz family, and ranges in color from light to deep purple.

I've been using these guys service for years and have never been disappointed. They have constantly shown me superior craftsmanship and awesome customer service. Great collection for men and women. They have an awesome selection of bridal rings too! Also Tommy has helped me with designing then him crafting a beautiful man's ring for me. When I walk in here I feel like family and not like I'm walking into a retail store. The only jeweler you'll ever need!

J Thomas perfectly repaired my engagement ring. I had an opal inlay fall out. My siblings recommended I take it to the Miner's Den, and the Miner's Den destroyed it. After taking it to J Thomas, everything was perfect. The ring was so beautifully restored I almost cried. They even repaired a deep scratch that I wasn't expecting to get fixed.
Their repair pricing is also great. The Miner's Den wanted to charge me more for their "repairs" than what J Thomas was charging for a full clean, polish, inlay replacement, and restoration. This was my first repair done here and now I only trust them with my fine jewelry.

What an amazing place and wonderful customer service. My boyfriend and I went ring shopping in February of 2014 and came across this gem, thank you GPS! We worked with a sales associate named Stefanie. She was very patient with us and got to know us on a personal level. She helped us find a ring perfect for my picky taste and within my boyfriend's budget range.
Once we picked out a contender, Stefanie called us a week later and told us that the company's dealer was coming down with all of their engagement rings. There were a thousand to pick from. We found THE RING on our second return to the store and everyone was so involved in the process, it was like a family affair! I'd recommend this jeweler to anyone that does not want the boring mall jewelry! Thank you J Thomas for making our ring shopping a pleasant experience.

This place is absolutely WONDERFUL! Every time I go in this jewelry store, they are nothing short of exceptional! They are helpful, courteous, friendly, and really take a heartfelt interest in your jewelry needs. They made my 7-year old engagement ring look brand new again. I recommend them to everyone I know who is getting married or just needs a little bling. Love them!

I was referred to this jeweler by a friend and was completely blown away by their service and attention to detail. They took care of fixing a family heirloom wedding ring and was able to do it for cheaper than they estimated. The ring has never looked so beautiful. The staff was awesome! I couldn't recommend this place more! I give it five diamonds!;-

Tom, Noreen and crew made shopping for a gift for my wife's birthday a great experience. They take the time to understand what you are looking for before making suggestions. Tom is an award-winning jewelry designer, and I enjoyed looking at his custom line while I was there. I ended up with a sapphire pendant that was perfect. And they even offered me a complimentary greeting card and chocolate bar to take home. Thanks Tom and Noreen! I'll be back.
