If you like creative jewelry design, this is the place. They carry designers from around the country and the world. It's not the same stuff you see in most jewelry stores. A range of styles: some pieces delicate, others robust, some modern, some baroque. A mix of metals and stones. Variety of price points from ~$100 to $2000+. There's a lot of stuff in the $100-500 though.
The only downside is that if you love something, it's likely to be a unique design so you can't count on it being there if you pass it up and then later decide that you want it.

Love the jewelry in this store although the customer service I received today was disappointing. So disappointing that I am writing my first Yelp review. I bought a necklace (chain + pendant) from De Novo about 14 months ago (Dahlia Kanner - love the artist). Unfortunately the chain broke after wearing it approximately 12 times. A bummer since it was not cheap (~ $800) and I treated it well but things happen.
I called up De Novo and they told me to bring the necklace in so that they could send it back to the artist for replacement. I then drove to store, turned in the necklace and asked if they could mail it back to me when completed so I did not have to take up another Saturday driving to downtown Palo Alto (not a fun place to park on the weekend). They said no (another bummer but ok) and I proceeded to look around the store to see if there was anything else I wanted to purchase.
It IS nice jewelry! When I got to the Dahlia Kanner section, I noticed they had not 1, not 2, but FIVE chains exactly like the one I wanted replaced. As the same rep was following me around the store I asked her if I could just have one of the chains they had in stock. Again her reply was no stating that "it might affect sales". Well I decided not to buy anything after that so I guess she was right.in a way. Poor customer service.

ONE OF THE BEST STORES THAT I have found in Bay Area. Every time i have visited the store, everyone in the shop has been to gracious and very helpful. they let you explore it fully and help you as much as possible. They have excellent customer service. I bought earring + necklace set about a year ago and i requested them to help us wash the silver necklace and without any hesitance they did it. in fact they did it very fast per my request. OWNER of the shop is so professional. her way of handling shop and customers is Extremely commendable. this is a THIRD consistent year when i am visiting the store and getting something extra ordinary out of the shop. Whenever my wife wears jewelry from De Novo, she always gets compliments on top of compliments! Thanks De Novo :

This is the most wonderful place, especially if you want original beautiful artful fine jewelry, one of a kind contemporary designs. The sales staff are great, they know their artists, and when you go in they'll show you the buried treasure in the drawers underneath the glass cases. This is fine jewelry for people who want something unique, artful, and that the kids are gonna fight over in your will.

Easily one of the Best jewelry stores on the Peninsula! Fantastic quality, original designs, beautiful pieces of art jewelry that make my knees buckle. Super friendly service too. One of my favorite metalsmiths shows here (Barbara Heinrich) as well as an awesome variety of local and international metalsmiths. They have shows every month, too. LOVE IT.
