I am Brett Weiler, the owner and operator. My love affair with rocks and gems goes back to my earliest childhood memories. Fortunately, when I was a young man, a wise man told me: "Pick a job you love and you'll never have to go to work.". I love what I do, which is providing beautiful, fine jewelry in a relaxed environment.

What an amazing jewelry shop and an even kinder business owner! I stopped in today for a repair on a beloved necklace of mine. Brett was so quick to help, kind, and fixed my necklace within minutes. I highly recommend this shop for your jewelry needs and repairs. Plus, the shop is beautifully well-done and a treat to browse in.

My experience with Brett was nothing short of awesome! He made a pair of custom earrings for me for my birthday, and they are every bit of stunning. Brett is an expert at his craft, and has a true eye for beautiful and custom jewelry. His personality is kind and genuine, and feels like an old friend when you talk to him. Thank you again Brett, for creating an exceptional pair of earrings that I will always cherish.

This was the WORST customer service I have EVER experienced. Today was the day after I became engaged. My fiance and I were delighted to find a local jeweler who claimed to specialize in bridal rings and drove right over. We had a lovely antique diamond and platinum ring from England that has been in his family for 100+ years that we needed to be sized larger.
So we walked in and were the only customers. The owner/employee barely looked up and never even greeted us! So I greeted him. I told him we had just gotten engaged and needed to have a family heirloom sized as my engagement ring. His response to our engagement announcement was a scowl and an utterance like "Uh". Then he took the ring, looked at it like it was covered in poop, and abruptly announced "no.
Can't be done. There's nothing I can do. There's nothing anyone can do." I was so shocked and upset by his indifference, rudeness, and inaccurate information that I left in tears and stunned silent. Thank goodness we went to the professionals at Jewelry Artisans who were not only welcoming and congratulatory, but also knowledgeable enough to know that all it needed was a new shank that only cost $500.
I would never set foot in that store again, and if you are a bride-to-be DO NOT go there and let this rude man rain on your parade. Just look at his other responses to bad reviews. He reallyshows his true colors.

Decatur City Jewelers has been an institution in the city of Decatur for decades, and anyone who has seriously patronized this store knows why it has survived while most of the other businesses in Decatur have faded away: fair prices, excellent service, and a name you can trust. My fiancee and I approached Brett Weiler for a special commission: we wanted replicas of my parents' wedding rings for our own wedding.
While Brett has access to a small but impressive number of pieces in his store, I believe that he is best suited for providing custom jewelry pieces like these. After examining the originals, Brett was able to sift through his impressive network of craftsmen, cultivated through the years, and pick out exactly the right person to create our custom rings.
The results were stunning: exactly what we had wanted. The agreed upon price was fair, and Brett worked with us throughout the process to make sure that we got exactly what we wanted with a good understanding of what that would cost. I would highly recommend Brett for all of one's jewelry needs, especially if one is interested in custom jewelry. He is a dedicated, upstanding, and highly capable artisan and businessman.

Stopped by on vacation last month with my mom. I had a business card and was looking for the website because I was trying to remember what a ring I saw in the store looked like that I keep thinking about. We weren't actually looking for anything at the time, just window shopping to kill time. The owner let us in to look around, and took time to actually show us some of his new jewelry and tell us about his business.
He was very kind and seemed like someone who knows what he's doing, and puts a lot of effort into his work. I wasn't planning to post a review, and just ended up on yelp from the website. But I was surprised to see some not great reviews, that did NOT reflect on our experience at all. Most of the bad reviews had something to do with people coming in strictly to have their fingers sized, which from his responses to those reviews, he only does if it's a ring he is making. Don't let those reviews deter you from having him make your jewelry, everything we saw was absolutely beautiful! Where I live there are mostly jewelry repair and no custom jewelers, when the time comes I need custom jewelry I know who to contact.

I've purchased many items over the last 10+ years. I have had nothing but positive experiences. I have popped in to simply look around and have always received personal attention in understanding what I am looking at. Will continue to frequent the store when I am loooking to purchase or simply trying to get ideas for down the road.

This is my husband's go to places for classic jewelry for special occasions (anniversary, etc). He is always pleased by his experience, which is why he has bought at least 3 pieces from Brett. He has said, he feels that he is doing business with a family friend. As the gift receiver, I just love what I have received and wear each piece daily.

Thanks to Decatur City Jewelers, I now have the most beautiful ring I've ever seen. Brett is an incredibly knowledgeable jeweler and gives straightforward, honest advice. His pricing is the best I have seen in any brick and mortar store (and most ecommerce sites) and he respects budgets without up-selling. Unlike other jewelry stores, there isn't any pressure and there are no pushy salespeople.
He offers an incredible selection of diamonds and settings, and if you don't see what you want there ask and he can make it happen for you. If you are shopping for an engagement ring or any other piece of jewelry, I highly recommend Decatur City Jewelers. We'll be back soon for our wedding bands! Also, as some reviewers didn't understand this concept I have to add: Don't go here or to any other jewelry store looking for a free ring sizing for a ring you've just purchased elsewhere. That's just rude. Only come here if you actually want to look at jewelry.

The jeweler was so incredibly rude to me, I had to write a review of this place. I just got engaged last week, and my ring was from a different jeweler. I have a very particular style of black diamond in my engagement ring that can't be found at every jewelry store. I needed the ring to be re-sized and for the prongs to be fixed slightly. I could have sent it to the jeweler across the country, but opted to find a jeweler close by as I am also looking for wedding bands and wanted to get something local.
By reading these reviews, I thought the guy would be amazing and accommodating so I stopped by. I walked into the store, let the guy know that the ring was from somewhere else and I hoped he could help me with a quick fix, and he basically cut me off without listening any further, and refused the work. I didn't even get to tell him that I only needed simple work done, and that I was also looking for wedding bands.
He complained about not being able to maintain a business by doing "this kind of work" since "I am not really his customer." I definitely won't be his customer for my wedding bands or any other piece of jewelry, either!

I can't say enough good things about my visit today. I don't live in the area, but had met the owner at my shop about a year ago. When I lost a stone in my ring, I knew that I could trust him to do a great job replacing it. I made the trip to his shop today and am so glad I did! I also brought a ring in to have it resized. Brett was very knowledgeable and helpful. Based on his expert opinion, it probably wasn't the best idea to have the ring resized.
He did give me other options though that I will consider in the future. I don't know the first thing about jewelry so I really appreciated that he shared with me some concerns about resizing and let me make an informed decision. I was thinking that I would have to leave my other ring for the stone replacement, but he was able to do it then. I understand that this isn't always possible, but I definitely appreciated it.
I'm incredibly rough on my jewelry and was almost embarrassed to bring it into the shop in it's current shape. Now my ring looks brand new again thanks to Brett. I look forward to working with you again!

I understand the time it takes to hand craft jewelery. I know how laborious and detailed the work is from conception to completion. I've cast lost wax, I've filed and soldered, bezzeled and polished. I appreciate the craftsmanship of a fine piece. But a jeweler I am not, hence stopping at this establishment. What I don't understand is turning away a potential client asking to be sized for a wedding band.
I was rebuffed with a curt "not here." When asked to clarify that he does not size rings, the owner states he does but that "in my experience, those looking to be sized are also looking elsewhere." Well yes. As a customer that is my perogative, to shop around, see my options -- to see what I like and don't like. What the owner didn't know, and didn't bother to even ask, is that this was the first store I ventured into because it was local shop.
As a business owner, I would think to have someone walk through your door, you might extend an offer to look around, to try to develop a rapport. NOPE. I was immediately dismissed as a waste of time. No offer to even look at rings on hand. Terrible salesmanship and customer service.

I just purchased a Christmas gift for my wife from Brett. It is always a pleasure to work with such a gifted and knowledgeable jeweler. This is not my first purchase from him, nor will it be my last. Brett has a great deal of integrity. He's who I always like to see when its time for another quality piece of art.

We just moved to Atlanta from NC and I was looking for a new jeweler. We got to Decatur early before the store opened, so my young son was playing outside the store. The owner rudely came outside and told us that he has to clean the windows and "finds it very aggravating that people touch them." He was extremely rude to us. Not the kind of person I will do business with.

I bought an engagement ring for my fiance recently. It was an extremely positive experience throughout the entire process with Brett. I would encourage anyone that is in the market for jewelry to do yourself a favor and stop in to talk with him. He is very committed to identifying what exactly you want, adhere to your budget, and provide his honest opinion tactfully. It was a very comfortable and enjoyable process that was rewarded by my fiance adoring her ring. Highly recommended!

Just had a great visit here. I admitted that my girlfriend and I were still early in the engagement ring-shopping process, but Brett was super accommodating and knowledgeable. I got a sense of price range and availability, but was more impressed with how genuine he came across and how quickly he was able to pinpoint her style (even without a picture reference). Though I didn't buy anything today, I fully expect to be back soon with girlfriend in tow!

This store is great! The owner Brett knows jewelry, something I don't and felt really good about the way he took the time to educate me before I made a decision. His store is very cool too, not like any I have seen from the fireplace, go in the winter to the most friendly dog, appropriately named Jewels. Can't say enough about this one-of-a-kind place.

I called simply asking how much the store charged to size a ring. I was rudely told by the man who answered that he did not give estimates over the phone. I understand the policy and am fine with that. However, the man's tone and delivery of the message turned away potential business. He could have simply said, "there are many factors to consider when sizing a ring and I need to see the ring in person before I can give an estimate." Based on this interaction, I will NEVER take my business to this store, nor could I recommend it to anyone else.

I've never written a review before but the incredibly rude service I received at Decatur City Jewelers inspired me to do so. I came in looking for sizer for my husbands class ring for an upcoming wedding. I showed it to the man behind the counter, he got out his special glasses, and said he'd take a look. Then he asked me a question. He asked if the wedding ring I brought in to compare in size was new.
After I answered "yes" he says to me: "It's too bad people will get their rings one place and then come to me to get their grunt work done". Then he proceeded to tell me he couldn't help me. It was VERY clear to me was that he was unwilling to help me. Okay, so it's his shop and he has the right to refuse service to any body, but he didn't know my situation AT ALL.
Maybe I was in the market for a new jeweler. which actually I was, when I'm in the Decatur area (my regular jeweller is the other way towards Midtown). And this is all assuming his premise of shopping different jewelers for for different services is somehow unethical, which I don't think it is. If you want to build up your customer base over all, you are POLITE and COURTEOUS to everyone.
That next expensive piece of jewelry I want, I won't be purchasing it from Decatur City Jewelers. I went to WorthMore Jewerers, Inc. up the street next and they were extremely helpful and nice, even though I only had "grunt work" for them, this time!

'My fiance and I came in this shop in the hopes of getting several things done. We were basically ignored for several minutes. When the man at the counter did finally acknowledge us, I first mentioned having a man's wedding ring sized (intending on seeing if we liked the place before having him work on my grandmother's wedding rings).
The immediate response was an I don't want to get involved in that - send it back from wherever you got it. He didn't bother to even wait to hear that we could not send it back as our wedding was very close, or to find out that I also wanted more serious (and expensive) work done on my grandmother's rings. Having worked in retail, getting business all depends on customer service.
I would have totally understood a no, had it been given in a relatively nice tone. It must be terribly difficult to get and maintain new clients with such condescension and rudeness. Needless to say, we found another WONDERFUL family jeweler (not a big chain) who was friendly and waited to hear everything we needed before making a decision on our business. We will not be going back to Decatur City Jewelers.

Worst customer service I have ever witnessed. Walked in to get my ring sized. He gave me an attitude and told me he would not help me. Said since he was not getting the business, he wouldn't help. I told him, that if he had better customer service maybe I would buy from him. Totally unprofessional and I will never buy from him along with not recommending anyone to this store.

Well, lucky me, I get to rate this place because my beautiful fiance purchased my engagement ring from here. The ring is beautiful, perfect for me and seemingly one of a kind. Brett helped my love pick the perfect ring for me, he also helped my love understand the whole process from the stone, to the band and all those lovely details. Brett gave him great advise on how to make sure I got the perfect fit for my tiny bony finger. Everything was perfect. The entire selection there is classic, interesting and amazing. Wedding bands a must! I know little on the price as I am not allowed to know!

Maybe, I caught the owner on the wrong day, but I went in to get my ring cleaned and he told me he would clean it (for free- which was nice- as i was willing to pay) and then when my fiance wanted to get his ring finger sized- he told us he wouldn't size it unless we were going to buy a ring from him! He didn't even offer to show us any rings and acted like he couldn't be bothered.
I guess he must sell enough jewelry that he doesn't need business. It made me sad that I went here because of the great reviews and I was quite angry when I left. I will never go here again, nor will i recommend it to any of my potentially engaged friends.

My fiance and I came to Brett after a disastrous encounter with a bigger jeweler OTP. I grew up in Decatur and never had a reason to try Decatur City Jewelers until we needed our heirloom diamond reset in an engagement ring. The store is very inviting - huge and warm and new-agey and good-smelling! : There weren't a ton of items to look at in person, but Brett was very helpful in providing catalogs and suggestions for our relatively hard-to-find-settings-for marquise cut stone.
When he shipped the stone off to be reset for us, I had none of the fears I'd had a few weeks earlier when we left it with "those other guys." When I got my next call from Brett, he wasn't thrilled with the setting and suggested sending it back for another try. He was absolutely right, which I later realized when we got it back "the right way" and it was just exactly what we wanted.
Completely perfect! Brett is a friendly guy who wants the best quality for his customers and to continue to provide excellent service. I've had my rings and earrings cleaned there ever since this great experience. The next time we need to purchase fine jewelry, needless to say, we will be visiting Decatur City Jewelers.

This is the best jewelry store I've ever been in. I realize this is a ridiculous statement, as it's the ONLY jewelry store I've ever been in (my wedding band came from Kohl's, for god's sake), but seriously, hear me out. Brett, the owner, is an awesome, awesome, awesome guy. Before my wife and I got married, I bought her an engagement ring on the cheap from the internet.
That was all well and good, until her grandmother decided that, as first of the granddaughters to get married, she was going to get her great-grandma's engagement ring and wedding band. (best grandma eeeeever!) The engagement ring was kind of ehn, but it had a nice looking diamond. On a whim, we took it to DCJ to see what a professional could make of it for appraisal purposes (as far as insurance, etc.) We go in and show Brett the ring and we're all "yeah, it's kind of a gross looking diamond" and he just grins at us and says "Hang on, I'll be right back." He takes it in the back and hits it with the cleaning machine and oh my god.
It SPARKLED. He took one look at it under the lights and told us more or less when it was mined and cut (before 1900) based on the facets and stuff, and then helped us pick out a new setting that showed it off like it was supposed to look (it had been reset sometime around 1950, apparently!). Brett reset the stone for us in a period-appropriate setting, and will clean it for us any time we feel like popping by (apparently the reason it was so dingy looking is that it just hadn't been cleaned in many many years!). There's a fire burning in the store and it always smells really awesome in there. It's incredibly inviting, so if you're looking for a cool piece of jewelry to impress that Special Someone, you seriously cannot go wrong with Brett.
He is that awesome. The one caveat I have is BE CAREFUL WHEN PARKING. The meters out front are insanely stingy (a quarter only gets you 15 minutes or so) and the city patrols pretty regularly. One time when I was there I pretty much had to beg and plead the meter maid not to write me a ticket - Brett spotted me the quarter to feed the meter. He's just that awesome.
All those dudes on the radio will tell you that some jeweler in Buckhead or wherever is the place to be, but all those dudes on the radio are *full of crap.* Go see Brett and get your jewelry on already!
