We had an amazing experience here. My boyfriend and I decided to stop in here on a whim after visiting an overpriced competitor just across the street on a busy Saturday. We were not looking to buy that day. John met us at the door and we did not have an appointment but he welcomed us just the same. His knowledge and experience really helped us through the process.

Neither of us know much about fine jewelry. He happened to have the exact ring both of us had been discussing in our minds. Something vintage or art deco looking, white gold or platinum, with a main Diamond surrounded by sapphires or the like. He really worked with us on pricing and explained the process in a way that we could understand by not being condescending.

We were able to pick up the ring, earlier than expected so we could celebrate with out of town family. We will definitely be visiting again for an anniversary-with an appointment!

John of J Rankin jewellers designed a beautiful ring for me. The center stone was from my father, who gave it to me in another setting when I was young. John incorporated it a beautiful diamond setting. I'm beyond happy!

During COVID-19, J Rankin Jewellers is doing it right. I was able to set up an appointment (via text and phone), and John let me in right on time. We respected the "social distancing" and I was able to choose the right size for my ring. I was the only one in the store, and felt very comfortable in a coronavirus-free environment. Plus, there was plenty of parking right out in front. I really appreciate everything John did. I will definitely be going back.

After being referred by a friend to (John) Rankin Jewelry in Edmonds, I decided to take all my broken fine jewelry in to see what could be done. (Why was I storing all this jewelry in a safe deposit box anyway?). John spent some time with me, and we decided which jewelry was worth fixing and which was not. I got my favorite pieces fixed and sold him other pieces for the gold and diamonds.

Fast forward-I walked out of there with a $36 bill and all my favorite pieces fixed. What a burden lifted. Now I wear all my favorites again! The search for an engagement ring for my partner of 7 years began by feeling like an impossibly daunting task. Like many Millennials, I began my search online. Type in some specs, click, match, choose, done. Easy right? Nope. It felt overwhelming and weird to shop for one of the most important purchases of my adult life online. So I asked a friend where he had gone and he recommended J Rankin.

I'm so glad I decided to make the short drive to Edmonds from Seattle. Here are the highlights: -As soon as I walked into the store they were welcoming, knowledgeable, and patient; -I never felt pressured at any point in the process; -They cared about what we wanted in a ring, special ordering stones for me to come back and check out to be sure I chose the right one; -I never felt shamed or silly for my serious lack of ring knowledge; -They worked with me on price.

After doing my research, I ended up feeling like I got a great deal for an amazing stone and setting; -Being a local business, they went the extra distance to personally follow up and ensure the quality of their work. The biggest shopping event of my life ended up being a wonderful experience thanks to Katie, John, and Meg. Since then, she said "yes" on top of a mountain and we're happily engaged! She absolutely LOVES the ring. Now, if only J Rankin planned weddings.

J Rankin Jewellers replaced several rings and necklaces years ago when our house was broken into. They did such a beautiful job and were so friendly, I went back to them when Mom died to sell some of the items the family did not want. They made matching pearl and diamond necklaces with the pearls from Mom's pin for me and my sisters. The necklaces are gorgeous and we have a part of Mom. They are my go to jewelers and I love them. You won't be disappointed.

J Rankin Jewellers has helped me and my family many times over the years. So when I was finally ready to redesign a ring I had had for 15 years there was no question, it was up to Edmonds to Rankins. Their designer, Claudia, was perfect. She was a good listener, asked all the right questions, understood my needs, gave her creative opinion when it was helpful and she communicated with me regularly.

I absolutely love the ring, it's just what I wanted. Again, thank all of you so much, Claudia, Katie, John and Meg. I haven't taken the ring off since I put it on in your store.

I don't know what store everyone else went to, but my experience with J. Rankin (and John Rankin himself) was nothing short of a nightmare. My boyfriend and I went to browse engagement ring styles, as my mother had gotten her ring resized here, and I was hoping for the unique touch of a mom and pop shop. We were not ready to walk out that day with a ring, but my boyfriend wanted to get an idea of what I like.

I was immediately struck by John's friendliness, at first comforting, and then off-putting. He started to get used-car-salesman-esque, talking only to me and ignoring my boyfriend's attempts to contribute to the conversation. While I was trying to tell him about the family heirloom that my BF will wear for his wedding ring, he interrupted, and filled every silence with smack-talk about his competitor.

There was no chance of building an individual relationship if it didn't result in an immediate sale. Additionally, Mr. Rankin ruffled my hair, repeatedly touched my arm, and lingered on my "lovely" hand excessively. He also left another customer's jewelry (brought in for cleaning) on the counter for anyone to swipe. When we were leaving, he asked for our contact info.

My boyfriend, who we both wanted to be the main contact for any and all ring decisions (as he wants to surprise me), put his number and email down-- Mr. Rankin crossed this out and requested my information. When we left, my boyfriend and I had a private conversation in which we agreed to keep looking elsewhere. BF left him a voicemail informing him that we would not be using his services, and that he could take a ring I'd shown interest in off of hold (he'd insisted on holding it, not us).

The next day, Rankin called my boyfriend and I both at work, demanded to know why my boyfriend was "so insistent on controlling this process" and insisting that we "both seemed to have found the ring!" and then sent my boyfriend a passive aggressive email demanding to know why I wouldn't talk to him on the phone and what *exactly* my boyfriend didn't like about him.

He also directly asked my boyfriend why he wouldn't let me talk to him, implying that he was controlling and preventing my happiness rather than handling a man who made me uncomfortable. I appreciate that plenty of Yelpers have had a great time here, but I want to be honest about the disappointing experience I had.

I needed my engagement ring reappraised and came here, based on other yelp reviews - and so glad I did. Not only were they accommodating and quick, they didn't mind my two small children coming in the shop with me. When I inherited a family ring and the stones were loose, they were wonderful to evaluate and repair the prongs. I am so pleased with both my experiences here. I looked around a bit too and they have a beautiful selection of jewelry. Wonderful family owned business.

We purchased my engagement ring and wedding band at J Rankin. What an amazing experience. Not only was the ring quality fantastic but the customer service made this purchase so painless and enjoyable. They are so warm and welcoming. John took the time to answer all of our questions but also educate us, which I find is very rare now a days. Every one is always in such a rush, you start to feel like just another transaction.

Seven years ago I came in and saw John, nervous and knowing nothing about engagement rings. He immediately calmed my nerves and went above and beyond by spending a few hours with me, took me under the scope and educated me on different styles of diamonds/bands. I wanted to shop local for for this so I just searched google and yelp. J Rankin had all positive reviews. After reading through some of them I knew that they were legit, so I decided to stop by. John was awesome. He guided me through what I though would be an overwhelming experience. But no, with him it was so easy, fun, and felt right. I got quotes from some other local jewelers and I received the best pricing from him by far! My fiance's ring belonged to her great aunt, it was restored and had a jewel placed in it. I was stoked, and my fiance loves it. Highly recommend them!

My husband and I purchased our wedding rings with J Rankin in 2017. As our wedding date was weeks away and my band had not been selected, John and team were so kind to have rings brought in. He suggested a lovely rose gold band and just 1 day before our ceremony the ring was ready for me. Last month, I noticed a smaller diamond had come missing on the band of my engagement ring due to a broken prong. John took the ring for repair and by the end of the week the ring was ready for pick-up.

I noticed a slight anomaly with another smaller diamond and without hesitation, John and team offered to keep the ring for repair. I was without my ring for several weeks but upon pick-up not only was my ring sparkling like new but there was no charge for the repair and was given a gift card. I only have praise to sing about J Rankin! I looked down one day to find a diamond had fallen out of my late mother's wedding ring (that I wear daily). I was relieved to hear my insurance with Statefarm would cover it, and they said J Rankin was in-network. I sent John an email straight away, saying my claim was coming in and asking about the process.

His communication was very clear and he always replied swiftly. He made the process extremely easy for me, and explained options and steps along the way. He suggested all the things we needed to get my mom's ring up to speed and had the repairs done within 10 days! Not to mention he dealt with all the insurance company communication, which made it so easy for me.

I went in to pick up the ring and was floored at how gorgeous it looked! I had gotten it cleaned professionally many times in the past, but never had it looked as exquisite as after J Rankin was through with it. I always just thought it was a darker-metal ring with deep crevasses and shadows. But apparently it is a super shiny, bright silver ring!

The prongs were are also all fixed and uniform now, and you can't even tell which diamond is the new one. I can't stop staring at it. I will definitely be back for other jewelry needs in the future! Thank you!

I have some signature pieces that I wear every day. One of them is a gold scroll design bracelet. I was greeted by Miss Meg, and Mr. John. Both were extremely sweet and helpful. When I picked up my bracelet I even brought in some old jewelry and I am meeting with the designer next week to create something. I will not take my jewelry anywhere else! I would stay CLEAR if you have any repairs work needed on your jewelry! John Rankin was rude, condescending, told untruths and was very unprofessional when my 80+ year old mom took in her precious ring for some work. She had to spend over $1,000 to fix what they ruined. When the problem was brought to Mr. Rankin's attention his demeanor completely changed and threw insult after insult without taking any responsibility.

He announced that they only work with high end jewelry and that her piece of jewelry was junk. (mind you it is appraised for $20,000) This comment was made after he took her money and double charged her.

Bought my Fiance's engagement ring here, and I am so glad I found them. They were incredibly helpful and friendly, and made the ring of my Fiance 's dreams. If you are looking to get something special for someone you love, then J. Rankin is the place you will want to go.

I bought a vintage ring for my husband for an anniversary gift. There was a piece loose and I was not sure if it would be able to be fixed. I took that ring and a ring that I needed resized into J Rankin, not knowing what to expect. John met me with a smile and quickly reassured me that the ring could be fixed and that the other ring would be no problem to be resized.

It wasn't until my return trip to pick up the rings, that I was really blown away. Both rings were fixed beautifully (not even a hint of any repairs), brilliantly polished and the price tag was well below what I had feared it would be! Since that first visit, my husband has brought in a ring to be resized and once again, we were more than satisfied with the work that was done.

This visit in was even more fun as we all had a wonderful chat about Italy! My husband and I both felt that John and Ashlen not only cared about their jewelry, but cared about connecting with their customers as well. My husband and I have an antique business and occasionally come across vintage pieces that need to be repaired, appraised, or just polished up. Now we know where to go! The Old Elf Antiques will definitely be doing business with J Rankin Jewelers in the future!

Ashlen is the best! I had to go abroad to propose so I was already under a budget constraint. She didn't brush me off like they did at Shane Co. She went the extra mile to find the right ring and stone so that I could go many miles overseas and propose. Very happy with the service here and I'll definitely be back.

When the Onyx stone cracked in my David Yurman ring I was skeptical that it could be repaired. The ring was hard enough to have resized when I bought it and I thought that there was not going to be mendable. I took the ring to John and fully expected to hear that he would not be able to fix it. John set my mind at ease and let me know that he could mend the ring and replace the stone.

When I picked the ring back up from John, it looked brand new! Not only did he replace the stone, but he managed to keep the details in the ring pristine. I highly recommend J Rankin Jewelers.

I went into John's store to find something for my wife's birthday. We are boaters and have a new (to us) yacht and I wanted something nautical. There wasn't anything in the store that grabbed me at the time, so John set an appointment for me to come back in two days. When I returned he had researched dozens of specialty companies and showed me twenty-plus options that met my criteria.

We settled on a beautiful gold "fouled anchor" on a special gold rope chain necklace. My wife loves it and she gets compliments on it every day - three months after getting it, she still gets daily comments. Now that is a gift to warm a husband's heart!
