In 1956, Walt Odom Sr. founded Walt's Jewelers in Mammoth, Arizona; a small mining town, founded in 1872, in southern Arizona. Originally, the store was called Walt's Jewel Box. In 1962, Walt Odom relocated to Kearny, Arizona using the name Walt's Jewelers. He had both locations in operation, but eventually closed the Mammoth location and focused all of his energy on the Kearny store.

Ran in at 5:55 not realizing it was so close to their closing time. My ring had gotten out of round and was curious if it was fixable. Not only did they have it done in less than 5 minutes, but they did it free of charge. It was so fast that I didn't catch their names but the two ladies were the sweetest. Thank you so much!

I walked into Walts today hoping to shop. There were 3 very mature sales people with customers. NOT A MASK ON ANYONE OF THEM! The salesperson who approached me seemed friendly enough as she spewed THEIR OWN MISGUIDED INTERPRETATION of "CDC guidelines for small business" so I guess it's true, Ignorance is bliss. I will never spend money again in a place with no regard for their customer's and their community's health.

I am sad to say I can not recommend Walt's Jewelry store any more. We have bought several lovely pieces of jewelry and watches there BUT now during the worst pandemic of our lives, none of the employees are wearing masks! It is not only against the county mask mandate, it endangers every customer who enters the store!

I brought my husbands watch in for a new battery and when i got it back the second hand no longer worked and after going swimming water got inside. i took it back and she told me the gasket was not put in correctly. the also told me they do not guarantee that watches will be water proof unless you send them to the 'watch maker, a service that i was never told about when i dropped it off. they are very nice people but did not do right by me. i was told they could try to fix it but it would cost $250.00. needless to say i wont be returning.

Buyers beware. Please don't waste your time or money at Walt's Jewelers. My husband picked out a beautiful ring for me for our engagement in 2015. After a few months of wearing it, I felt the center stone coming loose. I took it back in to have it fixed and cleaned, only to have a very rude employee "steam" it and return it to me. Not much longer later, my center stone fell out! Luckily I found it, and had it fixed.
Or so I thought. I noticed again, several months later the stone was crooked and I was concerned it was going to fall out again. Took it back in and was told basically, in a nut shell, because I chose a quote on quote "dainty" ring, wear and tear will cause it not last long. the owner "informed" me about how wear and tear works and what was "expected." My only option was to pay more and have additional prongs added to my ring. (Regardless of the fact that it was not properly installed in the first place.) I took my ring into other shops to get a second and even third opinion; they were able to give me not only better, clear information (that were not lies and simply trying to get more money out of me) but more acceptable options. Long story short, this jeweler will not stand behind their mistakes and products. And as you can see from the responses on their 1 star reviews, is full of excuses.

I brought in my mothers antique watch and they sent it in to see if they could get it running again. They could not so I asked the clerk if she could clean it a little. In so doing, she broke the crystal and had to send it in again for new one. She charged me for it and I had nothing to do with breaking it. This was not fair.

I took my custom engagement ring here for a sizing. Our jeweler lives in Chicago and I needed the ring tighter on my finger because it kept moving side to side. I took it to Walt's who sized the ring. Within 2 weeks, the splice began to open and my ring completely lost its shape. I went back in to express my concerns that it wasn't sized enough and it had ruined my ring.
Their solution was to charge me another $90 to fix it. I originally paid $100 for the ring to be sized, but they didn't even do that correctly. I had to bring my ring back to the jeweler who made it in Chicago, who had to redo the entire setting because it was so bad. The splice opened all of the way and I even lost a diamond. This jeweler charged a ton of money for a very poor job that ruined the integrity of my ring. 10/15/18 - I've responded to your message just now with my contact information and date it was repaired (mid December 2017).
I returned to the store mid January when the splice started opening and ring had lost its round shape (because diamond bands were not reset). There are diamonds about 8-10 on each side going down the band. It is made of platinum and the band is thin as you've stated. I was told initially the sizing cost was more expensive at $100 because the diamonds on the side of band needed to be reset.
The jeweler sizing the ring clearly just cut the splice, removed some platinum and attached the two ends. You can see because the ring no longer has the circular shape. I was quoted a further price (somewhere between $60-90) to reset the diamonds so the splice would not open again. I'm not sure why that wasn't done in the first place. I didn't want to spend more money fixing the problem when I had already lost trust.

I just have a word of advice for this establishment which is. Honor your word. Recent I took a ring in to have the prongs tipped. I was quoted $160 and told I could pick it up the following day. That afternoon I received a call and was informed that the cost of repairs would now be $260 to tip the prongs. Needless to say that was way above another quote we had received from another store so we declined repairs from Walts.
The sad part is that we were new to the area and were looking for a jeweler/jewelry store that we could do business with for many years and establish a good rapport with. We had a great long term relationship with our jeweler in the state we came from and having bought many expensive pieces of jewelry we were always treated honestly and fairly. My point is this to you at Walt's. Had you of honored your word on such a simple and inexpensive repair then you would have had loyal customer for life.
One who I'm sure would have bought several pieces of merchandise that would have by far offset any "loss" you might have incurred by honoring your word. While your store is nice and the staff polite, a person or businesses reputation is "priceless". Just food for thought.

Incompetent or liars. Either is completely unacceptable if your telling customers you perform watch repair. My watch stopped working. I brought it to Walt's. They told me my battery was fine. They didn't know why it wasn't working. They sent it to "watchmaker" ha ha! "Watchmaker said it needs a tune up and will cost $90. I declined.
I picked up my watch and took it to Walmart. The lady there helped me open it. We found a battery for my flashlight on the watch and a second battery for the movement. We replaced the battery for the movement and the watch worked. Walt's "watchmaker " is incompetent or a liar! Either is unacceptable if your telling customers your sending their fine jewelry to a watchmaker! To your response. Blah blah blah! Again not addressing the issue correctly! The watch needed a $6 battery NOT a $90 "tune-up scam"!Understand?

I always have an amazing experience at Walt's Jewelers. I have been going there for years to have my jewelry repaired. Beth has been there for years. She is always kind on the telephone and eager to help when I come in. They are extremely efficient and get the work done very quickly. They are very dependable and honest. I love this store and will continue to keep going there for all my jewelry needs.

My family has been going to Walt's for years. I have many wonderful pieces from them. My favorite has to be my engagement ring with custom wedding bands! I worked one on one with them to create exactly what I wanted for my bands. I get so many compliments on my ring! They even helped me and my husband pick the perfect wedding band for him. Not to mention the stunning pendant he got me as a present for our wedding day.
I also got him a watch for him from Walt's as a grooms gift! They are always friendly and helpfully. If you are looking for the perfect one of a kind jewelry, you must go to Walt's!

Came in for a simple watch repair, replace a link, and walked out with a Citizen watch for my wife. They had a great sale going and I was also able to utilize the Yelp check-in offer for an additional $20 off. Not only was the staff helpful and nice they called me 2 minutes after I left and informed me that they hadn't taken the Yelp discount off. I returned and they had cash waiting for me. You don't find honesty like that much anymore. This is a great family jeweler.

I have been using Walt's Jewelers for over a decade. They have handled everything from my wedding ring 20 year upgrade (10 years ago), to my 30 year, diamond tennis bracelet (a few months ago). Over the years we have purchased diamond earrings, birthstone rings, custom pieces and several gifts. I have always trusted Walt's with our jewelry investments. Please ask for Javier, and him Cindy sent you!
