Laney's is a full service jewelry store here in Williamsburg, Virginia! We are a family owned business interested in offering unique products and services to the Williamsburg Community. We also offer many of our products at our on line store. The on line store can be viewed from your mobile device as well.
As a young man, I recall watching an adventure movie. The hero threw back the cover of a treasure chest and rifled his hands through a case filled with gemstones. My imagination ran wild, I wanted to know what it felt like! I must confess this memory is still vivid. No, I've never had the pleasure, but, I have spoken with others who have examined state treasures and as they spoke you could feel the excitement build in their voices.
Today, diamonds are typically grade on a scale developed by the Gemological Institute of America. The scale runs from totally colorless to light yellow. A totally colorless diamond would be graded as a "D" At the opposite end, a light yellow diamond would be graded as "Z". The color in a faint yellow or faint brown diamond is often masked by mounting the gem in a yellow gold setting.
The clarity grade of a diamond is assigned by trained professionals, based on their visual examination of the gemstone under 10 power magnification. The size, location, number and color of inclusions all impact on the clarity grade. To answer this question properly we must first examine why we facet a gemstone in the first place.

My experience with Laneys Diamonds & Jewelry was a good one. I didn't go to buy any jewelry but I did go to get a necklace fixed. The lady that greeted me was nice and courteous. She said it would be ready in a week but really it was ready in a couple of days. Nice place and so far very nice customer service as well. Thank you! Maybe I'll come by to purchase some jewelry.

I had the most wonderful experience with this jeweler. I had a special need for a ring that was only manufactured offsite. They measured my finger carefully, worked with my existing ring and made sure it was created perfectly for me. If I could give them 1000 gold stars I would. Laney's offered a lot of benefits I couldn't get from shopping for wedding bands online. I've made several visits and both Doug and Rebekah were helpful each time. Rebekah took the time to explain our options and guide us through decisions. We felt informed and confident about our purchases instead of pressured into spending money. They are truly full-service, and took care of sizing, engraving, and sample ordering without additional charge. Their communication is clear and timely. Working with them was enjoyable and I recommend Laney's!

I can't say enough good things about my new favorite Jewelry store. The service is outstanding. I contacted them first about having some jewelry appraised for an insurance policy. The experience was so effortless and welcoming that I wound up taking some gem stones and making them into a custom ring for my wife as a surprise present. They provided both a computer drawing, pictures of similar gem mountings on rings and an actual model of the ring before I committed to the purchase. The entire experience was "top drawer" The finished piece of jewelry is quite beautiful and will become a family treasure. They desire a 5+ star rating.
