Charged a premium price for a half repair. Just needed the original tiny screw for a random watch. Screw came is shiny not matte. Not a bit deal but the cost was to replace original. Really lovely lady. Just not a value. I will go back, just be specific about my repair.

I took my young son there to buy his first gold chain. He'd been saving up for a very long time. Mary was incredibly kind, patient, and let him find the piece that really spoke to him. She even included a lovely box for storage and showed him how to keep his necklace clean. He's been following her advice diligently ever since. The knowledge and care that Tuel offers is a true gem in our small city. Bonus - we got to pet the little Frenchie!

Great customer service. I had a table clock that had died and couldn't change battery myself. They did it in 15 minutes for a very fair price and guaranteed it for a year!

Store owners did not wear masks and mocked us when we politely asked them to wear one. It's unfortunate as we wanted to support a local family-owned business. Will not go back again.

I needed to have a ring re-sized and I'm so glad I found this place. The cost was very reasonable and the customer service was outstanding. This is a gem of a place, a family run business right on the downtown mall.

Watch battery dead? Tuel Jewelers downtown beside the gelato place gives great service! I took in my watch for a new battery (only $10 including install) they are my go to for resizing rings, repairing, engraving or buying new jewelry. I can drop off my watch before lunch and pick it up after lunch.

I just stopped in to have my watch battery replaced. The price is still $10 (including the battery) that it was when I had them replace it 3 years ago. The staff is polite, fast, and professional!

Mary and Hunter are awesome and always take great care in helping me select just the right piece of jewelry. They also take care of all of my jewelry repairs in super fashion. But best of all, they are great people who care.

Preformed a tedious task in repairing my wife's wedding ring. Excellent job at a more then fair rate. Please tell everyone you know to go here. They just plain get it right. Old fashioned service with modern workmanship. Where else are you going to get that?

I would highly recommend Tuel's. My fiance wanted to design my engagement ring and Mary at Tuel's was so helpful with useful recommendations and support of his choices. Mary created the perfect ring with all of the features just as my fiance envisioned them. She was so sweet and wonderful and the ring has excellent workmanship. We will both be getting our wedding bands there as well.

Family owned, quality work and lovely service. Highly skilled in their trade, they have repaired numerous pieces of fine jewelry for me as well as my mother. Also, they don't overcharge and are quite reasonable as far as cost goes.

This is the real deal. In business 71 years. Family owned, family operated (four family members in 3 generations there today when I visited). Totally "can-do" - replaced two watch batteries for in 10 minutes for well under $20. Other jewelers here send them out to be serviced and start at $25/watch. Sweet people. I'll be back.

We've been coming to this family-owned business for years, and have been so well-served. They are fair and honest, and they stand by their work. (In fact, we save our jewelry repairs for Christmas in Charlottesville, even though we live in New York!)

I cannot say enough good things about Tuel Jewelers. I have been shopping with them for as long as I can remember. If they don't have something in stock, they are more than willing to work with you and place an order. This is a great local, family business. You are always greeted with a smile and they actually remember your name.

I have only had minor repairs/alterations done by Tuel Jewelers but on each occasion have been impressed by speed, communication, customer service and price. On two occasions they have replaced my watch battery while I was in the store for $10 (battery price included). They have also reattached the glass face on the same watch after it fell off in under 24 hours for $35.

Same time frame and price to get a link removed from my girlfriends bracelet. The two women I have interacted with have been very professional and amazingly sweet. Couldn't recommend them more.

I have been going to Tuel for the past five years and I've consistently had great experiences with them. When I was a poor student, they designed a very nice engagement ring for me which showed off the modest stones I provided to good effect. They are by far the most courteous and helpful jewelers I've found in Charlottesville, and they are reasonably priced to boot. They've continued to be my go-to place whenever I buy jewelry or have it repaired and I've never had a bad experience.

Let me just say that based on my ring's appearance, and the experiences my fiance and I have had (I went into the store with him on multiple occasions), we've decided to accept the ring as it is from Tuel Jewelers and take it elsewhere to spend more money to have it fixed. I did remove the long, detailed review because some of the things I wrote in my review were things that my fiance told me about when I wasn't there in person or on the phone to witness.

This review will remain. Free speech. I am entitled to state my opinion, just as I am entitled to recommend other jewelry stores. We gave them a chance to fix the ring, but there are more things wrong with it. We are so fed up we'd rather spend more money to get someone else to fix it. We wish we read the reviews before going to Tuel. Make sure you get everything in writing! An honest, reputable jeweler will neither be reluctant nor refuse to give you anything in writing. They wrote that I should be unhappy with my fiance, not them. I can't in all honesty and fairness, because he did not do the work on the ring, they did.
